I'll download that ccleaner now and delete them with that. There are a hardcore of about 16 that I can't delete but hopefully ccleaner will do the job!

I'll let you know how I get on.

    Thanks

I've done ccleaner and it deleted all of the cookies. I let MSN.com back on (took off the restricted list) and the cookies are poring in again! The lights are going ten to the dozen!!!

On the plus side, my pc is about as fast as it was when new! lol

I may have to block MSN again. I'll have a look where they're coming from.

The downloading cookies has stopped now.

I'll do that disable msn messenger thing now.

uninstall your toolbars, steps 7 and 10 in the guide

then follow the rest of the advice (unless you've already done it) above from the beginning of your thread.

Just deleted all the cookies again and they all actually deleted. Yay! Seem to be getting somewhere now.

I did the thing with the msconfig and rebooted and a message popped up saying the Utility Manager put the system in diagnostic mode because I had changed some of the startup procedures. Is this normal? And is it ok?

I came on to MSE by opening a programme through a shortcut I have on my desktop not through MSN which is my set homepage on my Internet Explorer shortcut icon and hardley any cookies have downloaded. I still have MSN on unrestricted.

I will access MSN through a tab in this browser and see what happens.

    Then I'll do post #33.

    It's normal

uninstall msn toolbars, and anything associated, and setting your homepage to google might be advantageous

OK now that's interesting! I did as I said above and the download rate is normal - i.e. lights not going potty! And no msn cookies appeared in Temp Int Files yet!

The second part of this test is now to open MSN from that internet explorer shortcut on my desktop and see what happens then.

I'll let you know what happens.
