Rapport didn't show on the add/remove list. I'm pretty sure I uninstalled that within a couple of days of installing it because my pc started to run much slower then.

Rapport is terrible at uninstalling itself properly, which is why I always try to get people to use Revo Uninstaller. Do all the things Closed recommends for speeding up your computer, but use Appremover for security programs and Revo Uninstaller for everything else (in place of Add/Remove programs) in order to prevent leftovers.

At some point, it'll be worth reinstalling Rapport just so you can uninstall it properly using Revo Uninstaller. Don't worry about it for now.

see the speed up guide, the commit charge bit is in inch high letters.

install and run ccleaner, close your browser, close messenger, then see if your cookies appear.

what size and extension are these cookies?

Will check out the speed up guide now.

Can I install and run ccleaner whilst I'm running this Malware scan?

I don't have messenger running and haven't been on it for probably about a year or more.

Do you mean the MSN ones? Because they have stopped appearing since I put MSN on the bad site list (on Security Tab in Internet Options).

    Thanks

Thanks RussJK, I'll add that to my "To Do" list.

Those darned cookies! If I could packet them and sell them I'd be a multi millionaire! Who needs the Lottery when you have cookies flying at you like there's no tomorrow!

    C:\PROGRA~1\MSNMES~1\msnmsgr.exe

    C:\Program Files\MSN Toolbar\Platform\6.3.2348.0\mswinext.exe

these are running, kill them in task manager.

yes, you can do many things at once, the sooner you get rid of the bloat, the faster it will run and scan

Don't know where the cookies are coming from, but it will be easier to find out when you cut down what is running as advised, and tell us exactly what the files are - are they txt files, what size, what contents?

C:\PROGRA~1\MSNMES~1\msnmsgr.exe This was running using 900kb's so I "End Process"ed it in Task Manager.

C:\Program Files\MSN Toolbar\Platform\6.3.2348.0\mswinext.exe This one was using 2338kb's - ended this one too.

    Nothing found to be fixed.

Cookies have slowed but I'll do a test and remove the MSN site from the restricted part of the Security tab and see what happens.

    I'll let you know.

Well the lights are not flashing like the clappers at the moment so looking good!

you need to find out where they are coming from, wipe them with ccleaner, close your browser, see if they reappear.

open your browser, see if they reappear.

disable those 2 msn messenger processes from startup, by running msconfig
