Interesting.. I posted a couple of weeks ago that Ihad received letter number 2 regarding this matter.. just looked on the link (which some of the letters do not appear to be opening on link by the way) to check its the same order of letters that we was to expect- to discover I have gone from letter number 1 to 'Court proceedings ltd. London demanding wait for it £325 (incredible amount) with the threat of court charges included- I feel left out not having received all the other letters that I was expecting - perhaps ukcps are having to live like the rest of us with 'cutbacks' and reduce the letters they are sending out! awww- perhaps its time I paid them this sum...(joke eh..)

They are asking £325 lol, that's it decided then, this would never go to the small claims as clearly its a penalty, no judge will ever say that is their loss in this matter, the advice is still ignore
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

I'm not sure what your point is?? I was responding to the question...what have PPCs done that is any use??

FWIW just because something is 'by statute' doesn't automatically make it any better.

I think it does in this instance though. Compulsory regulation is the only way.

Make PPCs abide by the exact same rules as councils (parking orders, standard signage, independent adjudication) and I would have little problem.

This would mean a massive drop in profit for the PPCs of course. But then they make the vast majority of their money by unfair means. Make everything fair and it doesn't look so attractive for a means of making profit.

As for what have they done that is any use? Absolutely nothing at present. Because their purpose of existing is to make money, nothing else.

I would call it not paying an alleged debt you don't owe.

  • I am grateful for the comments on this page - I have apparently committed the sin of parking out of a marked bay. The car park does not require payment - although there are machines they have not been in use for many years. I parked alongside a number of other vehicles without knowing I was doing wrong, and have been given a ticket and told I am required to pay £100, reduced to £60 if I pay within 14 days.

I am a very law abiding citizen, so not paying is going to be difficult, but I am assured by comments here that it is the best thing to do.

I am going back to the car park tomorrow to have a look at the notices.

If you think otherwise, please let me know.
    Thanks

You say you are a "law abiding citizen". Well I have good news for you as you have not broken any laws by not abiding by the parking company's silly "rules". Just ignore these clowns.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

Cherrub, it is a CIVIL matter the police have no say in it, they have suffered no consequential loss in a free car park, so have no realistic prospect of a county court judge legitimising their "illegal" penalty. So ignore them
