  • Hi we are getting married at an independent hotel, where we will have the ceremony and reception. We are £150 for the ceremony room including all decorations and £350 for minister to marry us. we are then having drinks reception for 60 people, with canapes,followed by 3 course meal, with wine, and drink of choice for toasts. table decorations are included (vases,mirrors,tealights,flowers), and an evening buffet of 7 items per person. Including a family room the night before and the complimentary bridal suite we are paying £2500! I thought that was a good deal, especially as the guests will be able to choose between 2 starters,3 mains and 2 desserts instead of having a set meal for all! I might be wrong though, that could be expensive!
    Whats included for at your stately home for £1500?

    Why not go to South Africa for your honeymoon and arrange a blessing ceremony? You could still have pictures with the elephants, and it would be a lovely romantic personal touch for you and your h2b!!!

    Also might tug h2b arm and ask for an "engagement shoot" on the honeymoon that would be realy nice im now gonna price it up lol do you think it would look strange stashing wedding dress in a suitcase so i could have some pics in my dress with them :rotfl:

  • Hi 2013 brides and grooms!

    Hope it is ok to join the party. DP and I will be booking either Jan/Feb or June. We are off to Vegas to get married (2nd time around for both of us), we will be staying around 5 nights and flying from Vegas to Mexico for a week of lazing around and sipping cocktails :) We plan to have a knees up when we get back.

    We will start saving in a couple of months and will get a proper costing once all the flights are out :)

    Nah wouldnt look wierd at all, and who knows the more you play on being newlyweds and being on honeymoon the more freebies and upgrades you might get! Why not make up a little thank you sign, get a pic of you in your dress,with the elephants and use it for a thank you cards!!

    Hello all :)

    Well, venue and registrar are booked, guestlist is more or less sorted, and we're going to start designing invitations this weekend :) There's not much else to do at this stage - I'm probably going to start looking at wedding dresses properly at some point in the next few months, and I've been googling for ideas :D

    I love things like this:

    Lace, sheath shape, with a slight train seems to be my style. And the more I look, the more I realise I really love Claire Pettibone's designs - definitely something to have in mind when I go looking. Yay it's exciting :D

    Hi Ladies, Am newly engaged (July 9th) but already decided on August 2013, found a venue, just waiting to go and see it. Been scouring the net for inspiration and felt a bit daft talking about it to friends as I thought I was being a bit silly planning this early but you ladies have really inspired me. I love being organised and am looking forward to sharing all our plans x
  • those dresses are gorgeous! I would never suit anything that slinky as Im...ahem.....big boned (in other words a right fatty!lol) but if I did Id definately go for something like that!!
    I have found my bridesmaids dresses, only problem is they will be £160 each for the adults ones if I buy from the shop :-(
    Soooo I am watching a couple on Ebay! Only problem is my maid of honour is trying for a baby so we have no idea her dress size in 22 months! Same as my flowergirls! At the minute they are 3,4,7 and 9, but the 7 year old is very small for her age,very skinny so she could have a growth spurt or need a smaller dress than my smaller ones! It makes it very hard as Im seeing some great bargains for dresses and shoes and I just want to buy them!!

  • Those dresses look gorgeous eleanora! I love all the lace and the slinkiness. Just for fun, this is my dress, from the Ultimo Couture Bridal Collection at Debenhams (picture's not the clearest though!):

    I think it's a great dress for £175! I was lusting after back when it was over £400, so I'm extra chuffed that I managed to get it on super sale, and it fits! Just can't put on any more lard...

    Schofield8883, the number 13 is lucky for me and my OH so it seems quite fitting. Originally we were discussing 2012, but his brother is getting married in the May, and having two brothers marrying less than a month apart would (sadly) make them rather too competitive and take the specialness away of each. Personally I was really happy to wait longer, as we're saving slowly and can therefore afford more :D

    OH made me laugh, he's one of the front line police dealing with the riots and I've seen him for around 20mins in the last 4 days. When he came home in the wee hours on Wed we have a little chat and snuggle (he's working around 40 overtime hours this week) and he said, in his half asleep state "but think of the overtime money, we could spend it on the wedding!" I thought, good answer, I have trained you well! :rotfl:

  • MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! :beer::beer::beer::beer:

    Hello...Oh and I are planning our wedding for August 2013 (ish) on a very small budget (around 2K:eek::eek:) Around 50 guests

    Im hoping for a church wedding, with village hall to follow for reception (means I can walk to the church, and then walk from church to village hall..no transport!)

    :cool:
  • OH and I are going to see our prospective venue next week so I'm getting so excited! :T

    We're hoping to get married at the end of May 2013, leaning towards the 30th which is a Thursday, so quite random! The venue is 400 miles away from where we (and 99% of our guests) live so they'll have to get time off work but most have been supportive about it - at least for now! Considering we've been engaged for 4 years already, I have a suspicion that some of our nearest and dearest don't actually believe we'll ever get round to it... I can't wait to send out save the date cards!

    I'm in the process of writing a list of questions to ask them so I don't forget anything. We've been to the venue before and the food is amazing (high on our list of priorities) but we haven't been since we've considered it as a wedding venue so we'll be seeing it in a new light.

    We have got our hearts set on it so I can't imagine getting married anywhere else now! I hope it all falls into place!
  • Hello Again Everyone! :)

    Right, some more little additions to the wedding wardrobe:

    * 6 more Yankee candle samplers, bringing the grand total to 42/70. New scents of french lavender and peach salsa.

    The following I got from today's car bootie:

    * summer 2010 edition of Wedding magazine for 30p, has great article on candy buffets
    * 4 x sealed table trivia boxes for £1
    * 2 x large wooden heart decorations with pink/white cut-out detailing for £2 each
    * 3 x Tiffany bags for £1 - I'm hoping to find some bargain bridesmaid gifts on ebay from Tiffanyto fill them!
    * Medium sized canvas print of a cream rose for £1. I've seen this same canvas print around several times and hope to collect a few, so I can glue them together to create a DIY canvas backdrop for our photo corner!

    Also got a beautiful artificial floral arrangement for 50p but it's not in our colour scheme, so it will be staying at home!

    Spent yesterday afternoon doing my first bit of wedding DIY: painting our pebbles pale green whilst watching Bridezillas! We'll be painting the initials of our guests on these and putting them next to their favours. For some reason, this bit of creativity got OH really excited about the wedding!

    OH also insisted that we get a coaster which says "Keep Calm, It's Only A Wedding". I wonder why?! :D:rotfl:
