Some might say crazy, others would say organised!
We've had a lovely weekend - we went to London for the day with my sister (bridesmaid), one of my friends from uni (she introduced me to H2B), the (female) best man, and my cousin who's over from Germany. So it ended up being a sort of engagement celebration really! Ideas for the stag do and hen do were bandied about (we might combine it into one bash and try and do a cheap weekend somewhere like Croatia), and we decided on a colour scheme (red and cream - there's lots of red and gold in the venue anyway so that helped decide it). It was great to catch up with everyone, and for everyone to meet each other as well - lots of story-sharing etc
We've started collecting addresses so we can send out save-the-date cards - we set up a private group on Facebook today, and added everyone we're inviting. We've had quite a few addresses already, so that's saving a lot of time and hassle:j Married my lovely man on 29th June 2013 :j0 -
Eleanora I love your private facebook group idea, hadn't thought of that! And sounds like a very fun weeeknd!
I went wedding dress shopping for the first time today and felt like an absolute princess (did make me want to tone up my bingo wings though and hopefully now might give me some motivation).
But I found a beautiful dress and it changed some of my ideas. Also made me realise you don't have to spend a ridiculous amount to get a gorgeous dress
How is everyone else getting on?

Wow were date twins!! I'm also 25th may, its a bank holiday aswell which is better as I have family coming down from Scotland so it gives them extra time before going back to work.
Update on wedding plans, I've changed my dress after oh saw a pic of my original dress and disliked it, anyway it worked out for the better as I then found my dream dress for 1000 cheaper!! My own super bargain.
Next is to see the priest which we r doing on Friday soooo excited!!0 -

Hi can anyone tell me what prices they are paying for ceromony and reception. I want to get married in a stately home (blickling hall) which is quoted for 1500 for 65 people in the garden room, to have the reception here too would be way to expensive but was going to have it at a permanent marquee at one of the country pubs which is £20 ph for a sit down meal can anyone tell me if these prices are cheap/expensive please!
Did want to get married in south africa found the perfect venue (glen afric) but oh wants his grandad to go because he hasnt got much family and at 90 it would never happen! still got my heart set on it but know where oh is coming from! just wanted my wedding pictures with elephants would be amazing but might have to wait till we renew the vows. (should really plan the wedding before the renewal lol)
Also anyone worried about getting married in 2013 because of the 13? silly question but dont like the idea but too soon to get married in 2012 and dont want to wait till 2014 because it seems like a life time away.
You all seem so organised! cant believe it i want to start buying etc but nowhere to put it all and wouldnt last long in my house with the kids running about.“You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.” ― Dr SeussI Married My Prince Charming 01.06.13:kisses2:

Hi we are getting married at an independent hotel, where we will have the ceremony and reception. We are £150 for the ceremony room including all decorations and £350 for minister to marry us. we are then having drinks reception for 60 people, with canapes, followed by 3 course meal, with wine, and drink of choice for toasts. table decorations are included (vases, mirrors, tealights, flowers), and an evening buffet of 7 items per person. Including a family room the night before and the complimentary bridal suite we are paying £2500! I thought that was a good deal, especially as the guests will be able to choose between 2 starters,3 mains and 2 desserts instead of having a set meal for all! I might be wrong though, that could be expensive!
Whats included for at your stately home for £1500?
Why not go to South Africa for your honeymoon and arrange a blessing ceremony? You could still have pictures with the elephants, and it would be a lovely romantic personal touch for you and your h2b!!!Ideas,help and advice always welcome, judgements and assumptions are not!!:happyhearMarrying my Mr Perfect 20130 -
that sounds like a really good deal with the stately home it is just the ceromony room chairs etc sounds a bit of a rip off considering what you have got for the same price might have another look around.
we could have the reception also at the stately home and they were going to charge £900 just for the lawn for it to go on then we would have to pay for marque food waiters etc etc ourselfs.
Might see what nice hotels we have round my neck of the woods thanks for the reply“You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.” ― Dr SeussI Married My Prince Charming 01.06.13:kisses2:
