  • Welcome ruby_eskimo!

We are saving buddies! I too am putting away £300 a month until the big day, and that will just about pay for our half, the other half is very kindly being paid for by my parents (who aren't exactly well off either!) Parents in law are giving us £1500 and my nan said she would pay for the 2 BM dresses and pageboy outfit so that's great :T Bits like the decoration, favours, etc are coming out of our normal monthly wages, paid for slowly but surely over time. Where and when in Prague are you hoping it to be held?

Thanks for the welcome rablovesroo! We've not decided exactly where, thinking either the new town hall and then have the meal in our favourite restaurant followed by drinks and dancing in an amazing bar where we could rent out the bottom floor and have their band and dj. or we could have everything in one of the castles outside the city. Then there's when, either December because I love the snow and we got engaged there in December or in June when the weather is a bit nicer (which may fit better with the kind of dress I want to wear!)

  • welcome ruby-eskimo - love the name!! we are also saving £300 a month - we get paid our wages in seperate bank accounts so we are both saving £150 each a month - doesnt really seem that much that way. Although my OH is such a better saver than me and has nearly treble what i have lol!! He just puts in whatever is left at the end of the month, i get paid weekly so i dont have that much left over lol!!

Now im stuck on my colours - my cousin who has announced she is now getting married next year has chosen her colours - turquoise, and also has a lot of the same ideas as i had - im just worrying that our families will think that ive nicked her ideas so its back to the drawing board for me. Shes having the magnet save the dates which i wanted, also the flip flop idea and the colour. No one ever asks me how my planning is coming along so its not like shes nicked my ideas but we just have very similar plans thats all. the colours i have planned on having are aqua blue and red - is turqouise basically aqua blue or is it more greeny. I put both colours in google and looked at the images and the same things cropped up so now im worried - what do you guys think - shall i still go ahead with it or will everything think i cant come up with my own ideas and have nicked hers!!

Sorry having my first mini bridezilla moment lol.

I wouldn't change your colour scheme, it is gorgeous! Turquoise is a blue-green mix, whereas if your keep your blue Tiffany blue and relatively light (iykwim!) it will look totally different. I found a lovely webpage from Martha Stewart for your inspiration :D

My OH's brother is having a mint green and light pink scheme and the following year we are having mint green and peach! I'll be damned if I'm changing my scheme, I love it!

I've also decided to keep schtum about some of the more creative ideas with any family members, or even OH, such as the photo corner, sweetie buffet, etc. I know it sounds petit and paranoid, but I don't want my ideas copied! I've put a lot into this already and I don't want my thunder stolen :o Of course it's fine to discuss all things with your fine selves

  • i was planning on doing the same about keeping my mouth shut but i went to her house last week and she was going on about seeing something with flip flops and sweet buffet tables etc. I wanted mine to be orignial - the last wedding we had in the family was 15 years ago so i wanted it to stand out but now its as if shes getting everything i wanted and before me :(. i really love my colour scheme and its taken me months to choose it and OH has said he loves it too so i might just stick to it - i suppose its not going to be the same because she is just having turqouise with no other colours - i just know what a couple of my other cousins are like who are bridesmaids for the one getting married - for some reason they have taken a disliking to me in the past couple of years - god only knows why (my gran says its jealousy because ive worked hard and got a lovely home, a lovely husband to be, my gorgeous daughter and im so close to my gran - im the only one who takes her out (shes 80) and gets her hair done every week and takes her shopping) and i know what they'll all be saying behind my back. Im very quiet so i wont ever dare say anything to them and i know i shouldnt let it get to me but it does - i think my problem is that i overthink things too much!!

Oh well im just going to plan it and not say a word so they wont know anyway until close to the wedding.

I keep looking for bridesmaid dresses but i know i cant really buy these until nearer the time - i was thinking blue dresses with red roses and red shoes!! I love how well these colours go together plus it'll tie in well because weve booked to have a big red london bus. - yes i am definately not going to change my colour scheme!!

is it too early to make favours do you think?? weve got a lot going on at the minute so i dont want to start anything too big until maybe winter time when im at home a lot more. Im just worried maybe the seeds will be out of date - does this happen or am i just being thick??

Maybe ill start on the save the dates - ive found some really good ideas instead of the magnet ones - i was thinking maybe mini flags or an invitiation type with a small packet on the front and the date of the wedding is pulled out on a rope type thing.

Ooohh blue and red sounds good, you can do so much with that. I really want navy or like a prussian blue for bridesmaids but no idea what other colour(s) to have to go with it. Possibly like a tiffany blue accent? I want navy peeptoe shoes regardless of what my dress looks like and I found these on ebay which are nice, but I probably wouldn't buy because I have wide feet and struggle to find comfortable shoes. But I like the blues and silver on them, so maybe light blue is the way to go with the navy? Look at me, I'm babbling now, need sleep!

I'm really starting to worry that we're not going to be able to make our minimum numbers :(

So far, we have 67 people who we definitely intend to invite to the full day. Our minimum is 80!!! When we booked, we thought this would be no problem but OH is feeling a bit miffed with some of his family who made absolutely no effort to come to engagement party or even reply to the invite.

Jeezo, im stressing 2 years before my wedding! :(

Awww KK22, don't stress too much, I'm sure people will come to your wedding, it's different to an engagement party. And you never know, your parents may suddenly produce a list of people they think you should invite or you can pad it out with people that you work with. I've got to narrow mine to 25 guests at least, not sure who's going to make the cut or not!

 I'm not buying all of it, I just like to watch it, most of it is getting relisted anyway so stays put. Same with vistaprint, I am determined to get everything free! :D
    ..

How does Vistaprint work, I've heard loads of reports on here about getting stuff free but I can't see how this happens.

Do you order stuff and leave it in your 'checkout' or register and wait for emails>
    ?

    Thanks
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....
