Just finished reading Confessions of a Wedding Planner by Tamryn Kirby and it is really funny, if any of you see it and it's a good price it's good reading - and has tips too.
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

Im the same feet wise - really wide feet, i struggle to find pretty shoes to fit - i really want red peep toe shoes - pretty much like the ones you like but in red!!

Ooohhh red....nope I'm sticking to navy. I have a gorgeous pair of black patent peep toe shoes that I bought from a Next outlet for £7! They are my pride and joy and I look after them as if they were animate objects!

I'm very excited about the shoe hunting! But I'm slightly nervous about the dress hunting - does anyone else feel like this? I like being left to my own devices when shopping, and overly-attentive shop assistants confuse me and put me off - so I'm a bit anxious about the whole wedding shop idea, making appointments, etc. etc. But I'll be taking my sister with me - she's great at cutting through BS and thinking of things that I haven't spotted etc :)

  • And another miserable wet morning it is!

Had to supervise the Year 11s coming in for their GCSE results yesterday, so am v tired, twas a long old day. And unlike the teachers, I've been here all summer long! :( No rest for this B2B!

My Zumba wii game arrived yesterday and I did the beginner's 20min class. I must have looked a right state jumping around about 5 seconds behind every step, and boy was it fast! OH came home to find me slumped across the sofa in shock, but at least I made it through the whole 20mins :T

Along with it arrived the 2 metal sweet tongs i ordered, just 35p each from amazon (although p&p was aout £2ish). Just need to order 4 metal sweet scoops from ebay then that should be all the utensils needed for the table.

Also ordered 10 x artificial flower arrangements from ebay for £31 (with p&p). They are ivory in flower with greenery, about 10 inches in diameter each, originally £5 each from Matalan but they don't do them anymore, so essentially i got them for half price which isn't bad :)

  • I am getting married in September 2013. My lovely boyfriend proposed to me on the 7th August and we booked our wedding 2 weeks later. We opt'd for the all inclusive package which other than venue & meal also includes:

Cake, cake stand & cake knife
    Flowers
    Photographer
    Cars
    Stationery
    Piper
    Evening disco
Honeymoon suite & changing room for bridal party

1st deposit due 3 weeks from booking.

We have also provisionally booked our Minister and meet with him in March 2012 to make further arrangements for the ceremony.

At our engagement party in a couple of weeks I am going to ask 3 lovely ladies if they will do the honour of being my bridesmaids then after that I will start looking at dresses etc, I have chosen my colour scheme which is claret (like a deep red).

Not sure if I will use this or not, depends on what sort of dress I decide on after trying some on (cant wait for that) but I have been given a website address of www.lightinthebox.com who make custom wedding dresses.

    Lesley.

We have had a meeting with our photographer, we had a look at his work and it was lovely, so we have booked him! We managed to get him for this years prices, so only cost us £420.00, we have paid £100.00 off that!
We have viewed and booked the venue, chosen the clothes for all attendants (not paid yet)
Booked our band who are also DJ
I've also been buying little bits and pieces. I don't want to leave everything until the last minute and be a Bridezilla! Pick up a bargain when you can.

    Wow LesleyG1984, you are organised!

I'm itching so much to arrange a meeting with our possible wedding planners but DF says not yet. I just want to get organised, so I know exactly how much this is going to cost and we can start letting people know that they will have to book flights. I think at this rate, 2013 will be passing us by and we'll be permanently engaged!

  • Another 2013 bride here :)

Glad that there are lots of other people planning this far in advance, I was beginning to feel that I was being too organised! We're looking for spring or summer, and I'm glad that we've got plenty of time as my dyslexia means that I'm not very good at organising things, I would be majorly stressed if I was having to plan it all for next year!

We haven't booked a venue yet although we've found one we love but have been told that they may be closing in a couple of months time :( Really hope they don't although have found a couple of other options to look at just in case.

I have found a dress, however it is £1300! I'm trying to keep an open mind and will try on some other dresses, although I have started saving for it just in case!

We're trying to do it as cheaply as possible as my fiance and I are paying for it ourselves. My Dad has already agreed to make our wedding rings for us which is lovely, as not only will we save some money but it will mean the world to me to have something that my Dad has made just for us :)

Really glad I've found this forum, I've already found lots of tips for planning and saving money :) hope all you other brides and husbands to be are enjoying the planning :)

Welcome sunshine2223! That is so sweet that your dad is going to make your rings, is he a jeweller then? DF designed my ring and had it made for me, and we're going back to the same guy to have our rings made.

I'm arranging to go see my best friend, who lives near manchester soon, and I'm going to ask her to be my maid of honour when I see her. Do any of you have any cute ideas of how I could do it, rather than just ask her?
