How much do you talk about weddings with your H2B? We've got around 18-24months to go and I think i'm doing pretty well. I'm looking at venues (we can't book our venue until January 2013) so I'd like to have a good idea of where we are interested in so come January 2013 we can just book it.
I've found my dress and luckily have time to wait to see if I can find it in a sample sale or it becomes reduced. We're basically looking for everything else that we can buy (table centre pieces etc) so that we can space the cost out.
However................... tonight my H2B has said he didn't realise when we got engaged I would talk about the wedding so much. He said he thought i'd just be happy with being engaged.
I did say we're engaged to be married and the wedding needs planning. He has been extremely involved, and has loads of ideas himself. So I was quite shocked.
I guess on some level we do mention it maybe daily....... eeekkkk saying 'daily' does make it sound a lot.
How are you guys dealing with the planning and not freaking your H2B out by thinking you've nothing else to do but plan a wedding........?Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
I use the strategy of storing up wedding talk for when he's 'in the mood' (to talk lol!). Otherwise, it's a pointless exercise! I also try to limit the talk of things he has no interest in (eg favours) and focus on stuff he has (like food and his outfit). I think men sometimes don't like to seem to eager with wedding stuff but would soon moan if something was decided without them!0

We dont get married till May 2013 so have a LOOONG way to go and its a running joke now that I am already bridezilla, and my family keep asking my h2b how hes coping with a wedding obsessed missus! The key for me is to be selective over what to speak to him about, and to make him think hes as involved in the planning as I am. He has no interest in colours, invites, favours or the candy buffet. So I leave that for the daily e-mails to my maid of honour! He is really excited though, and quite often hes the one to start the conversations. I have put him in charge of table names, mens outfits, cake topper and music, and hes happy to talk about things like the timings on the day, the food etc. he knows how much of an organised Monica I am, and I think we've come to a happy compromise where he pretends to listen to my inane chatter about trivial wedding things, and I appreciate his pretending!lol. If you cant book anything till Jan 2013 theres no harm in being organised so as soon as that date comes you can get it all booked without any stress!
Also if you find your brimming with wedding chatter why not start a blog?

Yeah i've got a blog on our wedding website, which I update. I think it's hard becasue we don't have a date and can't book one, so more things are 'up in the air'. i'd like everything to be bought that can be and at least have narrowed venues/bands etc down so when we do have a date I have a list preferences to call and won't be running around.
He is very keen (he too is in charge of naming the tables :j) however when he mentioned it, I did think 'wow I talk about it daily' and if that's now it is now, I think I can only get worse......
i'll defo do what you all suggest and keep it all stored up in my head and speak about it maybe once a week or when I'm ready to burst!Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -

Just go with it I say! I'm definitely turning Groomzilla, but when else will I get the chance to?!
Our wedding isn't until July 2013, but I'm constantly asking my B2B about photographers, bands, invitations, cars, flowers, honeymoon, etc. Before it was booked, it was all about the venue!
As long as you have some suggestions as to what you want and are also willing to compromise, I don't think it's a problem.0 -
We're a year and nine months away according to my wedding ticker... eek! It's flying, just as everyone said it would! So far we've got the ceremony and reception venue booked (all in one place) and have neeeearly finalised the guestlist. Next thing to do is get our "save the date" cards printed up - a friend of H2B's has very kindly offered to do this for us (he works in graphic design and has very professional kit!) so it's just a matter of us going round to his house to sort it all out at some point. We're looking to do this in the next few weeks, so the guest list needs to have been sorted by then
And H2B's lovely aunt (who I met last week when we visited his family in Dorset) has very kindly offered to give us some money towards our cake - so sweet of her!
I do want to get things moving though - so it's "save the date" cards next. I'm also thinking of going dress shopping over the Christmas period, as that way I can try and get one in the January sales :money::j Married my lovely man on 29th June 2013 :j0 -
Hello All!
It's been a while since I posted on here, been skint!
Oh wow, that means ours is almost 18 months away...noooo! No time at all! I'm much more of a slowly bit by bit wedding planner.
My mum and I will be popping to Earl's Court on Sat for the National Wedding Show, OH and I went in Feb for the first time and we both loved it, we came back with armfuls of freebies, so much that we have learned our lesson and will be taking a small wheel suitcase this time to save our handsMake £2019 in 2019 No 153 - £4517.17/£20190 -

Hi fellow 2013 Brides!
I'm going to my first wedding exhibition since we booked the wedding, this weekend with my bridesmaids (my sister and my daughter) so I am excited!!
This week, I emailed a cake maker, and have booked a "slot" with her. Her cakes are amazing and she can do pretty much anything you want so I have lots of time to come up with something different. She'll be at the exhibition this weekend so I will go and say hi.
Appart from our venue I have nothing else booked! Need to get moving but hopefully this exhibition will spur me on this weekend!0
