I am declaring £140.19.... (I feel like i've slightly cheated as I did a big Costco shop on 29th April but it is all stuff for May so I have allocated it accordingly... Mind you, really must stay out of Costco as although stuff is good quality and cheap buying it in bulk makes for large one off outgoings!)
Please can you put me down for £300 as May is a normal month.... not sure if I am cutting it a bit tight but i'll see how it goes.
Thank youGROCERY CHALLENGEJanuary £214.42/£300.00

Evening All,
I am declaring at £459.26. £20 over budget. Easter holidays were my downfall. I am picking up so many good tips from the thread and freezing lots of leftovers that would otherwise have headed straight to the bin so hoping I can come in under budget for May.
Many thanks to all who run the thread. xxGC Mar 11 £437.08Apr 11 £459.26 May 11 £485.52 June 11 £423.79July 11 £409.22 Aug 11 £250.10Sept 11 £396.14Oct 11 £382.37Nov 11 £372.55Dec 11 £332.29 Jan 12 £375.19:Feb 12 £349.58Mar 12 £279.66Apr 12 £249.12May 12 £337.66/Jun 12 £362.58/Jul 12 £317.03/Aug 12 £354.02/Sept £439.72/Oct 12 £210.160 -
Oh dear. I'm sorry folks i just can't seem to get into the swing of things again. I want to, but then i go and forget to make notes of my spends. I think i must have at least spent all my April GC budget, but don't know if i overspent. Must try harder!Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200
NSD Challenge: October 0/140 -
Well firstly will reduce budget from £160 to £140 which should comfortably be doable.
Few things I have noticed
1: Supermarkets are not always cheapest the many Eastern European store have great bread at great prices and dried herbs are great also.
2: I think I am better of buying milk, bread as i need it rather than predicting to have a no spend day tomorrow, have been all round asder for a pint of milk with a trolley and come out with a pint of milk.
3: Be flexible in your approach if you can make savings and enjoy your food do so feel good two ways.
April £133.38/ £160 May 0 /£140 2 NSDIt's only rock and roll but I like it.0 -

2013 Savings £250
2013 OP £35000 -
Well what a disaster! Well over budget lost track of the exact amounts towards the end, I'm guessing the total was closer to £300
As the doggies need food again this month (I haven't starved them for a month :rotfl: just run out!!) I will up the budget accordingly and go for a more reasonable £325 for May.....
On a more positive note, alot less food is wasted now, it usually goes in the freezer for a quick meal option for DS or me if I'm working from homeThanks everyone for all the hints and tips I'm determined to get the grocery budget down further :T
