As there is nothing more I need this week I'm declaring at
£78.40 for April:j - not sure what I am doing different - maybe just thinking about what is going in my basket and checking prices of different brands more carefully.

Can you put me down for £85 again for May please?

I have decided that my budget for May is going to be £372.00

I am really going to try this month and that means keeping all my receipts, no cash back, planning menus and using up what I have.

Aside from milk and lets face it, I could live without milk if I really had to (black coffee instead of my usual morning cup of tea) and potatoes - I could quite happily live off what I have in the house and stay out of the supermarket for the month!! That would be something wouldn't it !! I have no plans today, the Royal Wedding is of slight interest and I might be tempted to watch some of that. (unrelated to GC - I admire those that have been camping out all week for the best spot!!)

So with all this time on my hands, a spot of planning the month's menus might be an option for me to consider today which will at least give me an idea of what the month will cost me. I have been generous with my budget and hope to come under if I can.

Thanks for the explaination Hippee. Not sure I understand it at the moment but will re-read it and see what sinks in, it looks very interesting.

Pink-Winged, don't panic, I am sure we will cope with out the thread for a while so just do it as and when you can. Your hard work is much appreciated.

Espresso, how do you get into Costco? When I looked you had to have a business but I see it mentioned on here a few times that people are going to Costco. Would love to be able to shop there.

Tigerfeet, certain professions can get a card and one of those is teaching - which is what I do. Another way to do it is to find someone you know who already has a Costco card. They are allowed to add a certain number of family / friends to their account - the number they can add depends on what sort of membership they have but I think for some kinds of membership it can be 8. They do need to pay for this kind of upgraded membership but you could offer to pay towards it if they would let you have a card. It's really worth it as the membership doesn't cost much and you save a fortune. I have my receipt so could give you some idea of prices if you wanted....
The only problem is that there are not many Costco stores around the country so it would only work if you could find one close to you. But if you do have one near you, it might be worth popping in and seeing if you qualify for a card.

Mothership, don't you find Donald Russell very expensive? I love their meat but can't afford it or have you found some good deals?
