First spend of the month yesterday £18.76 on food. Managed to save £5.50 with vouchers and £3.08 in-store savings :). Today will be spent checking the freezer and menu planning for the week.

  • Good morning everyone,
very wet and windy weather here. Haven't been out of house for ten days!!! Except for an emergency doctor's appointment. Hope to try to go out tomorrow for an hour but will see how it goes re pain management.
Sister has been calling in with little meals to tempt me but I am afraid most of them have gone in the bin. Couldn't be refrozen and anyway my freezer is stuffed full. So are the cupboards but I have not been well enough to prepare anything for myself, even if I had the inclination, which I didn't.
Anyway hopefully this week will be better and at least I am now a bit more mobile.
Hope to rejig freezer this week to make sure all the U.F.O.s are brought to the surface and have at least a chance of being used up.
Know it will be a no spend day for me today and if nothing else my savings must be growing. Always look on the bright side of life.:)

i dont know , we had some wine left from last weekend as we had visitors maybe chicken stock ?? the wine does give it a lovely taste though, you can buy little bottles of wine for about a £1 think and you could freeze the rest for another time , the only time i buy wine normally is for cooking :)

although i thought i had stopped spending for this week , i have decided to go to costco for their loo roll and fabric conditioner offer, will tally up the total when i get back

    Hi

I would like to join for April please. I was totally shocked last month that I spent £500 on food and toiletries for our family of 2 adults and 3 young children. I used to be so frugal!! So, for this month I would like to set my target at £400 as we have loads of food in the freezer and I reckon that there was a lot of unnecessary spends in that £500 from last month. So, here goes...

This week split the shop, first to L1dl, then Mr T for everything else.

So £22.22 in L1dl, and this morning £50.56 in Mr T.

Seems a bit high for one week, but I do have at least 6 meals worth of meat in there, but we try to only eat meat 3 or 4 times a week, so some will roll over to next week so hopefully can keep next week below £40.
Debt Free since Nov 11 (ish) (except the £118000 mortgage :o) as at Jan 2013 but still hanging around DFW as I need to Stay On Track.

just back from Mr S and spent quite a lot today - £45 - eek!

Bought some stocking up items on offer - Margiold gloves, Olive oil, tissues, tea bags, disinfectant etc Probably extra £10 on non essentials this week

Must remember not to buy any more for the rest of the month and should still be able to come in at the budget fingers crossed. Bought some more baking items for Mother's Day lunch tomorrow (how expensive is maple syrup??????????????? That cake better be nice as a result otherwise they'll be trouble at spending £4.45 on a bottle)

So for tomorrows lunch will be making ham in cola, leeks in white sauce (whoopsied for 30p this week x 2 lots), scones, cake, marmalade pudding and custard (using up HM marmalade and frozen cream in the custard)

Leftover scones and breadrolls can go in the freezer and pack rest of family off with leftovers and use the rest up for my tea this week so should be quite a cheap food week for the rest of the week (I hope!)

Can you tell me the costco loo roll offer as I buy their big packs and it would be good to now if its worth calling in on Monday to get another massive pack if its on offer?
