Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 29th. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
Early start for me today, I've been awake since 5 so decided to get up & start the daily. We have a bit of a confrontation ahead today, someone at work isn't doing their job properly & it's impacting on the rest of us, today we have to tell her again, she's been told a few times already & she throws a wobbly & then ignores us. Today she will be told again with back up from management & I drew the short straw & so have to bring the subject up. I had a meeting yesterday & was asked then to talk to her about it as she intimidates a lot of the team. On the up side it means she'll stop talking to me for couple of weeks, lol.
We had liver & bacon last night & there is enough left over for lunch today, tonight we're having sausage egg & chips. I'm still plodding on with knitting the dishcloths in a vain attempt to use up some of my stash.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Good morning Hester, you are an early bird:) Good luck with the confrontation today. I hope it isn't too emotional and draining but it really does impact a team if members don't pull their weight.
Got a pinkish shepherd's warning morning here. Am hoping to get the washing out early today so it has a chance to dry before the expected rain arrives.
Meals got changed around yesterday. The leftover soup (cream of steak fajitas) was so scrummy and filled 4 of us as a main meal.
Need to do housework and work work today.
Going to get myself outside a cuppa first.
Happy Tuesday peeps. Hugs to those in need or want.
Cheers m'dears, Silver xOutside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

Good luck today HH, hopefully she gets the message finally... but what can you do with those sorts of people in the end?!
Silvermaid, that soup sounds interesting, whate exactly is it? I can just picture a broth with fajita seasoning.
Morning all, I'm about to go to the gym  I'm nackered already though, will probably want a nap later
Yesterday I made my first soy candles, they were... interesting? One is hilarious as I poured the wax into a cup lined witht infoil, it's got such a funny texture! One I made in a mould is nice but I'm tempted to melt down into a pretty jar/tea cup from a CS.
OS today: WM and tidying!
Lunch will be savoury pancakes, dinner whoopsie stir fry veg & pork loin. I always assumed pork has fatty like sausages and expensive like beef, but I got 4 big loin chops for £1.50 in Lidl and they're actually very lean and tasty.Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
Morning girls

Cold and drab here today.
I will have DC3 home with me till lunchtime and then he will go to nursery. So this morning will just try and do some odds and ends in between entertaining him. Also the A$da delivery is coming sometime this morning. DC3 loves helping me put it away and I have just realised that I forgot to order onions
When all the brood are in school this afternoon I will try to get on with the bedroom but am so tired I might grab a nap.
DH is going to be late tonight, I probably won't see him till around midnight.
Hope it goes well today Hester.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
Morning all,
Had the best nights sleep :T, OH slept in the spare room, cos we were both still coughing and sneezing, I had the whole bed to myself and only woke up once :T. OH has slept for nearly 24 hours, and feels a bit better today :T
Looks a bit overcast here today, will get some washing done and chance it on the line.
Got loads done yesterday, (did not have a nap) mowed the lawn, strimmed the back, planted my hostas, planted some tumbling tomato seeds, tidied through and cooked a roast dinner. DD and I then walked the dog over the field.
Want to do a bit more gardening today, I got some more hostas in poundland yesterday
, will do a bit more out the front.
Sausages today, might do mash and veg with onion gravy.
OK have good days all xx
Good Luck Hester!!
Edited to say, Good luck to my lovely dd today and tomorrow, she has her Photography GCSE, which she has been working very hard on xx0 -
Morning all.
Gosh, I slept late, didn't wake until 6.45 which is most unusual and now feel a little dopey. A long hot shower will sort me out.
Yesterday I met up with a work colleague/friend and did a little girly shopping session :j normally I don't do wandering around shops looking at stuff but enjoyed myself enormously.
Tuesday is office day so need to hit the road soon. The school has gates all round (Ofsted) and, although I have a key to get in and out I can't manage the lock well so like to get in before the gates are locked. Means that I could be there until 3.00p.m. but the benefit is that I really crack on with work. Last night I did two months of my expenses claims so that they can be in before the end of the financial year. That should pay the council tax!! :j:j
Breakfast - boiled eggs. Lunch will be a surprise chickeny meal I've defrosted. Evening meal will be using up some almost withered pointed cabbage, a sorry looking leek and the final couple of pieces of cauliflower lurking in the fridge -along with some stir-fried steak rescued from freezer burn!
Hope all is well with everyone along with good vibrations if needed.0 -
Morning all!
Hester Good luck with work today, I never realised what an impact work life could have on personal life till this last couple of weeks so I hope it doesn't bother you too much.
Looks like it may be a lovely day today so I'm going to put the little boys in their new school shorts, why am I excited by that:rotfl: What a sad mum I am!
Well have lots to do today, spoke to union rep yesterday who seems very efficient and angry on my behalf, I have to write an email with all the events in that have happened so she can write a formal letter of complete to ensure "work" don't find a reason to dismiss me. She's basically going to try and make sure I get the maternity pay i'm entitled to which is all i'm after, I'm certainly not after a reconciliation. Some battles are just not worth the energy!
Going to get the WM on today, and get the usual hoovering and cleaning done, will also get some wine and cider on the go (we make our own) Haven't decided what tea will be so may just wing it!!! Dog needs walking and DS2 has requested the library after pre-school......PHEW! Who said the life of a SAHM was idle!!!!
Good luck, best wishes and hugs to those that need them:)

Good Morning all, school run this morning then I may take myself off to the local cinema as its 'Seniors Tuesday' I think its Russell Crowe in 'The Next Three Days ' I get a 2 hour 12 minute movie for £3.00 plus a cuppa and a couple of biscuits not a bad result for a quiet Tuesday.and if the weather turns out as good as its looking when I come out I may have a nice stroll around the country park by the river.Forcast is good for today but damp and drizzly the rest of the week so I like to get some fresh air whilst I can.No washing to do today and I am eating up all the fresh stuff in my fridge as i only have until saturday morning then I'm off for a weeks holiday to Herefordshire so I don't want to be binning any food.I have a good bit of salad ect in there and lots of odds and ends to use up.
Hope everyone has a good day
Cheers Chums JackieO xx0 -
Morning all
Overcast but chilly as we've had a frost overnight. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock.
Dinner was delicious fish last night, so nice easy meal after being at work all day, was another busy day with lots of customers and not enough staff, ho hum, think this may be the way it is! Tonight is quick tea as DS1 has Cadets, so I'm going to have mushroom omlette and salad, boys will have something and toast and DH I'll have to decide!
Washing already out on line, hands were numb by the time I'd pegged it all out, but it should warm up later. Long day again at work today then half day tomorrow have a training session for most of that, and have asked to leave early using up some time I'm owed, so will find out today what time I'm able to get away.
As always have shed loads to do on my days off, but house had major clean last week and DH and boys been told if they don't put things away I will and there's only one place I will put it - in my special "filing" system - it will never been seen again!! So far it seems to be working - but how long can they keep it going?!
Have a good day everyone.
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Adelight - sounds more interesting than it is really but tasted delish. After the chicken & steak fajitas meal on Saturday. Deglased the frying pan with water to get the spices and meat juices. We had some of the spicy steak left over which I cut up small. Left over veggies from Sunday lunch got cut up small as well. Added some of the tomatoey gravy from the pot-roast, along with the end of the beef joint cut up small after freezing some sandwich slices. Also bunged in the leftover guacamole and sour cream & chives. Result was a 'soup' that was very much like a stew or casserole. Very tasty, was completely different from the meals it grew out of. And all made of leftovers:)Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

Morning all - what a bunch of early birds!

A bit dreich here, washing may be on airer, trying not to use TD. Night class tonight, so tea is something quick like beans on toast.
My sister had to have their dog put to sleep last night, so everyone's feeling really down. She'd been poorly for a few weeks, diagnosis still uncertain but one of two illnesses, either of which would have been terminal, and had been really bad the last couple of says. She'd not eaten or drunk since before the weekend and the vet had said that that would be the major sign of all going downhill very fast, so they had to make the heartbreaking decision and let her go. (I'm actually crying as I type, big girl's blouse that I am:()
All the worse as they've lost 2 cats to road accidents in the last year, as well, so their's is a very sad household today. Sis can't face telling our mum, so I'm doing that for her - cue more tears!
Have to go & get ready to take DS to nursery, so have a good morning, all, see you later.
