Great you are happy OP. I guess most people who bought about then have similar stories of acquired wealth through the growing property prices, as someone said a while ago, not so easy to do these days. Also staggered at how cheap your first property was. My first property was bought almost ten years earlier a 2 up/2 down in a reasonable but not particularly desirable part of the NW (although well presented internally) and that cost me £20K even back then!

My very LAST posting on here -- just to point out, at least half £200k plus that I have made wasn't "through the growing property prices"but from rents coming in from lodgers.

    Thanks hcb42, and goodbye.

Yes, of course I realise that, although that of course covers income for quite a period of time, so works out considerably less than working FT on the average income (which I realise you didnt do eitheR)

Anyway good luck with whatever venture you undertake next.

  • That's right you toddle off to your hpc cesspit. Fact is there are no such delusions of grandeur. This lady is simply posting the story of her life and the struggles she has faced down, and how fortunate and happy she is to live her own modest life. Some of you people need to get a grip.

As someone with a 100k mortgage do you really think im hoping for a house price crash?

This lady has not faced real struggles of which (for example) Sri Lankans, Haitans and now the Japanese are seeing.

As mentioned in several of my posts, im glad she is happy with her life but lets not make it sound like she done anything amazing because its just not that ineteresting.

Yes that'll increase your popularity no end lol

All best with the publishing and talks, life is about finding happiness and it sounds like you have.

Why all the animosity? I did a very similar thing to SL, although I don't live with my tenants. My house (and consequently) my tenants are abroad and I live in the UK with my husband and kids. I wish SL all the best with her books. However, let's not forget why we are here .... bargains, freebies and assisting each other. Life's too short to squabble!

So people can only be happy and share they happiness if they have had 'proper' struggles?!

She has never claimed to do anything amazing, that is purely down to people's assumption.

If it is not that interesting then why post at all??

I really don't know and I don't really care, but I can't believe the negative comments you have received to your posting. Some people have just got enormous chips on their shoulders and can't be happy for anyone who is doing better than they are. As you said, you just need to ignore them - you only need to answer to yourself and not to them, so as long as you are happy and living decently, that is all that matters.

You made some choices in life which worked out well for you and suit your lifestyle and personality and if other people don't like that, then it's their problem.

There is nothing you have said in any of your posts which makes me thing that you are anything other than a decent person, so don't dwell on the negative comments as you are giving these people too much power just by answering their comments.

I think accusing folks who can't manage on a salary of 10K must be drinkers or smokers isn't a very nice thing to say...;) hardly decent...
