I don't have airing cupboard... But maybe I could put them into the bottom part of my Rayburn? It is just warm in there, only when you put the oven on it gets warm enough to warm up plates but without it it doesn't... I would have to remember to take them out when I plan to put the oven on though!!!:D:eek:
Of course:eek:
Sorry, didn't mean that to come across funny.
Its just at this time year when we all get `sowing giddy` suppose it can be easy to forget to do such basic things.
I invested in a cheap heated propogator from B &Q last year for about £10 & everything I have ever done in it has come up!.
I think it may be time to treat yourself!:) or hint at someone else;)!.0 -
I sowed my chilli and ordinary pepper seeds on 19 March in a seed tray covered with cling film. As I don't have an airing cupboard I put the tray on the floor under a radiator and yesterday I saw some signs of life. Today there are lots of green bits poking out from the compost - it is really exciting.0

Following Sally's advice I've this morning got my Parsnip seeds soaking on paper towel in 2 large tubs so fingers crossed this method will work for me - love Parsnips but never had success getting them to germinate.;)
Eeek! Moi??!! I don't prechit parsnips, but have heard of others getting good results, perhaps I should start. Please keep up up to date with progress.

In our family Sunflower Competition 2011 which consists of me, hubby, the 2 boys, cat & a spare all sowed last friday, all have now germinated over the course of today EXCEPT for my hubbys!:D
Since he got in from work & my son broke the news to him 'gloatingly' I have now been accused of sabortarging the experiment, not watering his, angeling his pot away from the sun or not actually putting a seed in at all! I mean really! what faith! tut!;):rotfl::)0 -

Glad it's not just me. There is just so much to learn in this hobby,Fruit, Veg, flowers, herbs, soils, equipment etc it all interests me so i read it all.
If i'm not gardening i'm on a gardening forum or i'm reading a gardening mag or book or talking to neighbours about it or even blooming dreaming about it the other night!.
I have had to explain to my bookgroup (who read normal books) that I won't be as an active member in spring/summer than I am in winter!, not sure they quite understand!;):p0 -

Broad Beans.
I have 10 broad beans in a big planter-pot. They are about 15-20cm I would say now. They all seem to be tipping to the sides, and I am thinking how to support them. I have built a wigwam of some sorts, but they do not have tendrils, so will not hook to the canes. I thought to tie each plant to the cane, but won't it restrict the growth too much of the plant it self? Maybe it I tie them up loosely, they can grow and 'carry' the tie with them...
What would you suggest?Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0
