I've transplanted my toms today but they're still indoors on a windowsill. Also transplanted some cucumbers but they're not happy - I've since found out they don't like being moved so early. My sunflowers are leggy and moved out today to the plastic greenhouse sorrounded with bubble wrap insulation - hope they fair OK.
I'm in Bournemouth.
Oh and my strawberrys are in flower, nothing happening with my spuds but the soil is very wet where they are. Lettuce and spring onion coming up slowly in pots, they're outside next to a warm wall. My leeks seems to have stopped growing completely but are still green - are they dead?
I think I might be a bit early with a lot of things but the weather down here has been mild.
Leeks tend to stay thin like this for ages but they will fatten up - and certainly not dead. Are you going to transplant them in a month or two?
cucumbers seem very early - they need good temperatures all the time - where have you transplanted them? Outside? If so id be tempted to sow some more - i wont be doing mine for a while yet0 -
thanks annie for bumping this thread have now read it all interspersed with actually getting out in the garden, its definitely inspired me sadly I'm still a bit of a novice!
I planted potatoes in bags 3 weeks ago along with some kelvedon wonder peas in a hanging basket (odd i know but had good results last year) and they are now all growing nicely
Today i've planted out 8 runner bean plants and wrapped them up to protect them, i now know I started them a bit early but fingers crossed. i've also started another 9 in cardboard tubes and cardboard egg boxes (they'll then go into the bottom of 4pint milk containers until they're big enough to go outside?) I've also planted another 40 pea seeds in a plastic container and some salad leaves in the a container on the windowsill.
I also pulled "winter" carrot ok it was only the size of my little finger but still..........at least I now know how important is to thin them out!
I've still got leeks and onions from last year which are still growing slowly is this normal? they're in "recycling boxes" thank you councilany help /advice gratefully recieved

I would eat them sooner rather than later as they will soon (if not already) become woody in the middle. Ive still got maybe 20 leeks left which i need to eat up and if i dont eat them in the next week ill use them to make soup.0
