Thank you so much for all your kind birthday wishes both on this thread and on FB!!!
I feel a fraud posting on here as I've done absolutely nothing OS this weekend unless spending quality time with my wonderful family counts!!
Yesterday I went out for breakfast with a special friend to our local deli - relaxing over the papers with a latte & fresh croissant!!
Then went to see a production of Yes Prime Minister at the Theatre Royal - very funny & very topical. I'm wondering if I can put it down on my CPD as training as I work in Local Government :rotfl:
Bought a brand new pair of trousers from charity shop & a couple of tops from M & S with vouchers.
Followed this by a meal in Jamie Oliver's newly opened Italian restaurant. We'd heard bad reviews about the service but both the food and service were excellent! Can't say much about the price as my friend treated me for my birthday
This morning I went Center Parcs with OH, DS1, DDiL & DGD (2 going on 16!!) We had pancakes for breakfast then went for a swim in the lovely pool. DGD swam with only her armbands today & loved it. Usually she has a rubber ring.
Later this afternoon OH & I took Mum to a garden centre and this evening OH, DS2 & Mum took me to Pizza Express by a river for a lovley meal. We used vouchers so MSE did feature somewhere!!
I was adopted at 6 weeks old but have made contact with my birth mother recently through a chance message on Genes Reunited. Eleven months ago I walked past my half sister in the street and we recognised each other from photos. As a result I met my "mother" for the first time in over 50 years!! If it hadn't been for this lucky encounter we may never have had the courage to arrange to meet up!
I finally found out that she was forced to give me up as an unmarried mother in the 1950's whose partner (my birth father) ran away when she told him she was pregnant. She never knew what had happened to me and had been racked (sp?) with guilt ever since. She married a few years later & had another daughter but never told her about me.
We have kept in touch but not turned each other's lives upside down. Anyway, this morning my "mother" rang me & wished me Happy Birthday for the first time since 1959!! It felt really special!!
Thanks for letting me share this with you - my (adoptive) Mum would be upset if she knew what had happened as she's very insecure.
I am so lucky that I have been brought up in a very warm, loving family and now have the added bonus of catching up with my "other family". It's like finding a missing piece of a jigsaw that's been lost for years!!
