If people took a list off the spreadsheet tonight of what to buy when they go shopping tomorrow, there are going to be a lot of disappointed people. The spreadsheet is by no means a guarantee of anything and still requires work to make sure what you buy is correct. Those who don't put the effort in will be the ones who suffer as how many deals get pulled tonight/tomorrow or each other day in fact meaning "confirmed" deals are out of date already?
As someone has already mentioned, I'm pretty sure Tescos don't have to resort to looking at a forum or even a spreadsheet from a forum to know what items they are selling are more expensive than Asdas. if they did then they are in more trouble than we think! :rotfl:0 -
Well thanks anyway. It was just an idea.
Sorry, tired and ratty (ran out of DTD wine!) Read my post back and instead of sounding witty it sounded rude which was not how it was intended.
I am off to bed and will leave the thread in peace(for now......

Let me know your thoughts on the colours people and I will leave it, or change it back tomorrow0 -

Personally my opinion is swinging towards it being restricted viewing to recognised posters but I know a lot of the other admins don't agree with me.
I do
Couldn't give a monkeys about Tesco seeing it, what bothers me is Bob Smith passing on the link to his Aunt Mary and her milkman and his daughter's hairdresser, who then get all the benefit with none of the work. Meaning there's less stock for us who actually got off our backsides to find out and test each item by buying it in the first place.
I realise there's nothing stopping Bob from making a list himself and passing it to all and sundry but that's more effort than he might be prepared to make.
I made the first one so I realise how hypocritical i sound, but I now see sense and agree with the others on this. If I was still the owner I'd be making it restricted.Internet earnings:

Haha "the spreadsheet will get the offer pulled".... "make it private" blah blah blah have a word with yourselves, better still search this site for the numerous missprice threads that appeared on this site for many a year....
Lets hope for a good DTD on tin foil so some can make themselves nice hats...
Personally I think you should have a word with YOURSELF. It's possible to disagree without being rude.0 -
I have noted before, Tesco and the other retailers know which prices are high compared to others (and I suspect generally this is in preparation for a BOGOF or other offer to give the appearance of giving a discount, when they simply ramped the price beforehand!).
In The Grocer article a spokesperson for Tesco said that they had no intention of pulling the promotion as only a small percentage of people were getting much back and in most cases there was no refund. If you bought these as part of your normal shop without checking, the chances are that most would cancel each other out (not many people are posting items that are more expensive in Asda - there will be some when for example they are charging £5.89 for Gold Blend before they do their rollback!) and as it checks the whole basket, this works in their favour. Most people are too lazy or simply cannot be bothered with the hassle to check anyway - the fact that the offer is there is enough for people to think, "Tesco/Asda are confident in their pricing otherwise they wouldn't offer this promotion" and buy anyway. It is the same with hotels or restaurants offering a 100% satisfaction guarantee - few people take them up on it (and they are judging on that being the case, as they are confident in what they are doing). Tesco post millions in profits therefore they clearly know how to price to their advantage (as do the other retailers!).
Around 1000 items are price matched with Sainburys, Waitrose etc anyway (even Waitrose do this now) so it is only really when promotions change over or they were really looking to milk their customers that these finds will come up (think about it - how many items have appeared on the spreadsheet/these threads compared to the 10,000s that they stock?!). Most of your staple items (bread, milk, etc) are very similar prices everywhere (including Aldi, Netto etc, despite their image as low price!).
A very high percent of people (judging by discussions with friends, family and colleagues) don't even look at the price when shopping - if they want something, they just buy it - drives me mad when I try and point out how much more money they would have if they paid attention and visited sites like this, HDUK etc
Personally, I only came across this at the end of last week and will try it out for as long as the offer runs - so long as I get more than £20 worth of items that I would normally get (at normal/discount prices!) then I am happy, which I have already after getting another £20 shop from redeeming my first voucher. Any other non-regular items beyond this now are a bonus.
I am only disappointed that I didn't notice this offer earlier when there was no limit.
Thanks for the spreadsheet (while it lasts ... though I agree, Tesco know which items are affected simply by looking at their sales figures, mysupermarket and their own price checker!), though has anyone noticed how little you get for £20? If you stick to the £20/1 shop rule, the spreadsheet narrows it down but you only get a few items no matter how many are listed!

It was supposed to be £20, but cos i included some Quorn stuff (as when i had previously bought some of them they came up as N/A), one of the stuff I bought was 50p cheaper at Tesco lol. Mistakenly thought that all Quorn stuff would be excluded which clearly wasn't the case. Lesson for next time: listen to MSE'ers and do 2 separate transactions.
Guess what im gonna buy tomorrow (so long as prices stay the same)? More Herbal Essences.Need to stock up for my holiday in july and also for general use.
don't know for sure but as far as i can see on the asda site its only the beautiful ends one that is reduced nowGRATITUDE WHEN GIVEN, PATIENCE WHEN DENIED
