And GreyPilgrim bursts back onto the scene.

Put me down for 30 alcohol free days in May please! I would say 31, but tonight is the night to clear out the last bits of falling down juice in the fridge. There are two bottles of pear cider, 1 can of lager and a mini bottle of red wine...all remnants of a barbecue last weekend.

I've been a complete tool since I was on here last. Beer intake has gone from very low, to 'just at weekend' to 'ah well, it's thursday night, it's NEARLY the weekend', to on average about 5 nights a week in varying degrees.

Lard low point was about 17.5 stone, now I've just clocked it at an all time high of 20 stone 1 pound. Thats shocking, and I'm slightly ashamed of myself. Time to get back on the alcohol free wagon and get my obsessive lardloss chart out again.

So it's been a while. Can everyone fill me in with their favourite book, favourite movie, their earliest memory, and 1 embarassing secret about themselves, just to break the ice?

Personally, my favourite movie is probably Dead Mans Shoes or Bladerunner, favourite book is wuthering heights, earliest memory is being pushed around the local co-op in a shopping trolley holding a choc-ice, having it smeared all over my face and running down my arm and actually wondering why I wasn't able to eat it without making a mess. Most embarassing secret....I'll have to think about that one...

While I think up the answers to your questions.....Good to see you GP. Good to know you're climbing back on the wagon. There's nothing like this thread for keeping you focussed. Are you still cycling?

    Are you still cycling?

Yeah, although not as many long rides as before. I've changed job now and I cycle there and back - about 10 miles each way, so by the time it gets to weekend, I need to give my legs a rest!

The coast to coast run I did last year was probably one of the nicest things I've done. Loads of beautiful scenery and lots of time to myself. I've got a bit of a scottish thing planned for August this year actually - 214 miles from Glasgow up to Inverness...three days of biking, two nights of camping.

    I can't wait!

1AF please Shaggy. Had a lovely lunch with the family, mum and my brother. She actually managed to drive here for the first time in months, which is great. And she managed to eat a whole meal. She's one determined lady, that's for sure ;)

Hope you're feeling better now bearacus, and welcome back Miss P xx

GreyPilgrim, in answer to your questions, my fave book, I have no idea, I read a lot from Stephen King to Jane Austin, to chic lit (but I reckon the books I've read the most are the Mallory Towers series by Enid Blyton from when I was a kid, and I still have a sneaky peak sometimes :o).

Fave movie is con air or shawshank redempion (or gone with the wind if I'm doing the ironing :))

Earliest memory is getting lost at a castle on hols in germany when I was 5...my mum was wearing an orange coat and I let go for a sec, the next moment I was holding a different lady's orange coat and my parents were gone. They later found me in the car park with a german family, sharing their picnic.

And most embarassing secret...too many to mention, most of which are alcohol related, hence being on here.

How about the most bizarre thing that's happened to everyone?
Mine is that I was bitten by a bear when I was younger

    ...

Been a while for me too but as Budgie knows I am a major lurker/ stalker:o:D.
My fav book is difficult but there was one I liked when I was younger called "This can't be happening at MacDonald Hall" - an American book about the goings on at school - sort of Enid Blyton with laughs! My fav film - has to be Gregory's Girl - that penguin! Earliest memory - going to the hospital to see my Mum and new sister but being more interested by a car with Minnie Mouse on the side but Dad wasn't interested and well, most embarrassing moment - um numerous ones to do with alcohol - am going red now

My alcohol consumption is alot less now but still regular so I would like to cut down - especially as I was weighed the other day by a nurse and her scales said I was more than mine! :(

I've been reading through this thread and am inspired to cut down too. So, please put me down for 20 AF days in May. I am going to try to not have a drink at all, shoud be fairly easy when alone ( ie usually 4 nights per week), but my friends all drink and think I'm a bit crazy wanting to give it up. Mainly I want to lose some weight, plus I know I sleep much better when AF.

Do we check in daily to say whether AF or not? That should be an incentive as not nice to have to admit not having enough will power!

Anyone have any tips for fending off persuasive friends?

Off to bed now, pleased with self as have done first AF day of the month! :D

I'm just off to bed after having 1 afd for may under my belt-yay! Glad you had a lovely day with your family Rachel. Welcome back grey pilgrim-favourite book is Little Women by Louisa Alcott (just read my very battered copy again for a bit of childhood nostalgia!) my favourite film is City of God, my earliest memory is having my picture taken on my aunt's dining room table just before I was 2-I have a great long term memory-that's why i find my memory loss when drinking very scary! Embarassing secret-I'm sure i've got loads but one that springs to mind is that it took me 4 attempts to pass my driving test! Bizarre I'll have to have a good think about-bound to be something but hard to beat being bitten by a bear-were you in Canada Rachel?

    Good morning all!

Up nice and early here. Fancied a lay-in but Piglet had other ideas;)

    1 for me please Shaggy!

Rachel - sounds like you had a nice time with your family:T
Sumsup - welcome to the thread. You can update here as often, or as little, as you want. We're all here to support. As for persuasive friends, I've used the "I'm on antibiotics" line in the past. Alsways good as a short term measure.

    GP - welcome back!:T

Think we're off to a play area with Piglet today, popping in on Mum and Dad on the way back. Dad's building Piglet a Bogie (A go-kart - apparently they were called bogies when Dad was younger!!:rotfl:). Think its going to be bit of a flash one - proper pump up tyres and everything!:rotfl:. Piglets very keen to see if its finished!

    Morning :hello:

Hope everyone is well. I wasn't AF last night and probably won't be tonight as I am out for my friend's birthday.

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.
