  • Good Morning everyone.

Hope all of you are good. Sorry not been around for a while, and not been AF, but not gone mad either.

I will not set myself a challenge for May as I am off on holiday on Wednesday and then away on Business so will rejoin you guys in June.

I am loving this weather, and feeling much better in myself with the cut down. My danger zone is having a bottle of whiskey in the house, so will not buy anymore of that.

The weight control is also moving in the right direction to.

    Bye for now

    I am back!

    Missed you all.

A day late and we had a BBQ yesterday. May is an enormously busy month at work, though the 18th/19th are the worst so I anticipate drinking on 19th and 20th.
However, in the spirit of setting the bar high, I am going to try and make 25 of the next 30 days alcohol free.
Can we just take it as read I didn't mean to offend you?
  • I am wondering whether friendships with other drinkers survive when you stop drinking?

When I spent two months in hospital/rehab my drinking buddies did not come to visit me.

    Welcome back GP!

That's exactly how I used to think a couple of years ago and more than that - Ah well its Thursday and nearly the weekend so I'll open some wine for tonight. I've changed my thinking by drinking lots of squash or pop or tea or hot chocolate or water of whatever I want that's not alcohol when I used to think about having a drink and experiencing a trigger. This worked a treat as well as keep myself busy too. Then when I had a few months AF I recognised how much better I felt and was completely surprised by how good I felt.

Since then I might have 1 drink once or twice a month but now I'm thinking of going AF for a while as I've now been AF for 3 weeks this week and might make may an AF month!

Good luck GP and hope your cycling works well with the weightloss

And GreyPilgrim bursts back onto the scene.

Personally, my favourite movie is probably Dead Mans Shoes or Bladerunner, favourite book is wuthering heights, earliest memory is being pushed around the local co-op in a shopping trolley holding a choc-ice, having it smeared all over my face and running down my arm and actually wondering why I wasn't able to eat it without making a mess. Most embarassing secret....I'll have to think about that one...

My fav book of all time is Catcher in the Rye, fav film ~ Its a wonderful life, earliest memory ~ getting caught applying lots of my mums make up, secret ~ well it wouldnt be a secret if i told you ;)

Morning everyone. 1AFD for me for May target and 6 AFDS so far.

I am really pleased as not only do I look much healthier even after such a short time but I have also lost 2lbs.
    How has everyone else benefitted?

    LDx

Well done, its great when we notice changes so quickly isnt it. My main benefit since cutting down in Jan has been losing 2 and a half stone, combination of less booze = less snacking, more energy = going to Zumba twice a week, im really pleased. I also enjoy better nights sleep, the ability to read a book when in bed and waking up in the morning minus a fuzzy head. :o

Wasnt Af yesterday but wasnt planning to be as was going out with friend in the eve. Got a few boozy events coming up in May so my main goal this month is to only have a drink on these occasions (no sneaky drinks in between to 'finish off' the leftover bottle) and when im drinking, to drink in moderation. As soon as i know im having a planned drink i seem to go for it big style, as if i will never get the opportunity to drink ever again, which results in hangovers from h***. I like setting myself wee goals, so will focus on this one this month and to help me to this goal i will join the Mon - Thurs club please Bearcus

    Afternoon all!

Had a nice day. Took piglet to a play area (where I was dragged onto a very tall, very slippery slide!!:rotfl:) and then we grabbed some sandwiches and drinks and had an impromptu picnic in the car (it was very windy and chilly!) by a lake in the Cotswold Water Park. Very nice it was too.:D

On the way home I was to'and fro'ing about wether to buy a bottle of wine. In the end I resisted and put £5 in the holiday savings pot when I got home.

Something that IS helping me is that me and OH are on strict budgets now. Money is put by for groceries and I have a certain amount to myself per week. Strangely enough, I resent spending it on wine!

Good for you MissP and good luck with sticking to your budgets.

I'm feeling very guilty about drinking tonight but I want to celebrate! I know it's not essential to have alcohol for a celebration but I thought 'I'm in control of this, I'm choosing to have a drink'. The worst that's going to happen is that I have some empty calories and put my weightloss back a bit but that's my choice. I know I can jump back on the wagon later in the week. I'm in control, it feels good.:)
