What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

Good morning all, hope everyone has enjoyed the great weather.
I have been to quite a few social events over the last couple of days where the opportunity to drink has been imense. I did sucumb to a glass of AF wine on friday, not enamoured with the taste at all. I think I felt a little pressured into drinking it as my friend had bought it in specially for our usual Friday night is wine night ritual. I am wondering whether friendships with other drinkers survive when you stop drinking? Would welcome some thoughts. This person is one of my oldest friends and I guess I am not sure what our continued friendship will look like without a common social activity of drinking.
I love the fact that for the first time ever I was able to get up early on saturday morning and go for an outdoor session with a personal trainer. I had never considered early morning exercise before (hangovers did not allow for such frivolous behaviour), I also never had the energy. It was so invigorating I found myself bouncing around like Tigger.
1AFD so far Shaggy, thank you for keeping score.
I have set myself the stoping drinking challenge for lots of reasons, one of which is improving my health. I have also set the challenge to reduce my intake of red meat (health and cost). are there any other forums that address changing/improving diet?

have a great day y'all, and well done with your personal challenges.

Morning everyone. 1AFD for me for May target and 6 AFDS so far.

I am really pleased as not only do I look much healthier even after such a short time but I have also lost 2lbs. I think thats because I have more energy and am not as lethargic so do more stuff, move more etc. I was only aiming to lose 7lbs but am going to aim for 9 which will take me to my ideal weight. I'm also hoping that the money saved will allow me to get a couple of summer tops something my budget just wont allow right now.

    How has everyone else benefitted?

Lornadoone, The feelings associated with looking/feeling healthier is priceless imo
With the pounds saved that would previously have been spent on alcohol, I am now able to feel a little more in control of my budget which was spiraling out of control a few weeks ago.
I have had a few charity shop/car boot spends on new clothes. Looking great now that summer is here.

Well done MissP on managing a roast without a glass of wine and :T to everyone else who got off to a good start for May. A big welcome to all newbies, starting the challenge for the first time and well done to returners jumping back on the wagon.

Lornadoone, aside from the lack of hangovers and embarassing incidents, then losing weight has to be my biggest achievement too. It didn't just happen automatically. I needed a healthy eating plan too but I know that cutting down on alcohol first then other stuff helped me. I don't think I could have coped with both at the same time. Spin-off from that is that I can now enjoy shopping without having to look at the back of the rails to find something that fits.:)

I'm hoping not to be AF today:o. My team could be promoted and if that happens the champagne is in the fridge waiting!
