  • HI All
Cheezypeas, Bretts and RachelWW1 well done for coming back despite slipping a wee bit from your wagons! Good luck for the week :)

Well I failed a bit at my SNC last week- I managed Mon/Tues then went to boring club - sorry- book club weds and had wine, then went to the gym thurs and had a meal out on the way home, with wine, then on Friday Husbandio went to the pub so I made him buy me wine and drank half the bottle cos I was moody :o
Saturday I went to Birmingham with work and am very very proud of myself....I was very concerned about drinking too much in front of my colleagues- my last Big night out was The Wedding I Cant Remember Much Of And Was Sick so I knew I really had to reign it in- especially with Scary District Manager being there as well...........anyway I arrived in Brum and we went for lunch in a pub and I had a glass of wine- I could have happily had a coke but one of my colleagues was going on about a gin and how she was dying for a drink, and well, I never take MUCH encouraging.... Anyway finally the evening do rolled round and I started to realise that this is, for most, a very boozy occasion...I went to get ready with some girls and they were drinking vodka- they poured me one and it was SOOOO strong I had 2 sips then left the rest- they were guests not staff and obviously on an oblivion mission- I was still so paranoid about my boss! We arrived and there was a free drinks reception- I had 2 glasses of wine and a diet coke and watched these girls I was with THROWING wine down their necks- going back to the free table and getting glass after glass. Its amazing how it feels to be watching but not partaking- I kept my feelings to myself but I was so determined not to be "p1ssed" and felt very in control. I also knew I had ordered a bottle of white for the table and the meal wouldnt be for AGES so wanted to pace myself.

THe upshoot of this long winded story is that I had my bottle of wine minus 2 glasses I gave away, lots of water and one more glass (I must admit it helped a lot that the wine was A) overpriced, and B) vile!)
I woke up yesterday feeling great, safe in the knowledge my job was safe (unlike a colleague who bought a guest that got very drunk and mouthed off to a lot of staff )
I then managed to polish off half a bottle of white yesterday when I got home :rotfl: BUT I am on track for 3 SNC this week I think that will add 3 to my Nov goal.

I wasnt sick!! I didnt feel ill the morning after a big night!! I wasnt a !!!!!! Good God it feels great :j

June 2011 (apart from my birthday weekend in October) as I had a wrist operation at the end of April 2011 and was off work till July 5th.

I realised that I was liking my beer to much (well when you dont have to get up to go to work its far to tempting !) and with my debt problems as well, I decided to give up the beer.

I have to say I dont miss it, the money I used to spend comes in handy, and I will be on the wagon even when I go for my Team Xmas dinner on 2nd December.

Everyone keep up the good work !:T:T:T:T
  • I gave up drinking altogether in February this year, when I became a Muslim. I thought it would be a real struggle, as I realised I had a drink problem, due to the consumption of up to 3 bottles of wine per night. It is also the main reason for the amount of debt I have I suppose. In reality I was drinking to block out the amount of physical, and mental pain I have, and I have had to find other ways of dealing with it. On the plus side I haven't touched a drop, and I feel much better of a morning lol, and my meds for chronic depression work a lot better too. I know that they say you cant do cold turkey with alcohol, but I did, and I didnt feel bad, well not too bad. It certainly wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Maybe I have found something much much better to replace it with? I really feel for anyone struggling with the guilt of drinking because I used to wake up hating myself, and feeling like death, even though I rarely seemed actually drunk before I went to bed. Now I am aware of what I say too, which causes far less arguments or upset. I wish you all well, and suggest you keep trying to cut down or give up as life is much better without it.

Please will you add 2 more to my Nov AFD total Shaggy.

Thanks and have a good week everyone.
  • I have just remembered that ny BF is going away on a work trip tomorrow until Friday morning. This usually spells trouble for me alcohol wise as I get a bit lonely and see it as a treat. However I have signed up for the full monty SNC so I'm still going to aim for that.

Day 9 and 1 on the SNC tonight please x
  • 14 AF please SHaggy and 1 for the SNC

Fakeplastictwee- I totally understand about drinking when your on your own. My husband works shift and I used to drink when he was on nights as i felt lonely or bored. Try doing something for you to take your mind of it (easier said than done i know :)) Good luck x

Antonic and Pudding- Well done with all your achievements :T

Idris- Did you want me to add you to the SNC list ? Good luck this week :T

Really really hard this evening as OH has been drinking steadily since I got home from work and has been trying to persuade me to join him. He started off being quite supportive when I started this but now I think he is feeling quite defensive about his own drinking :(.
