  • I found that my panic attacks stopped and my depression lifted when I had to give up alcohol.

But I still suffer from mild Gephyrophobia. :):(

    .

I had to look this up (you knew people would ;)) Seriously though, I genuinely want to cut my drinking down to 'normal' social levels but the thought that maybe I actually need to cut it out altogether:eek: is a bridge too far atm.
  • No more AF days to report but I have been more moderate than would normally be the case over the weekend. Friday 1 glass of wine after work (ok it was a 250ml glass but it was only 1 ;)) then shared a bottle of wine with oh later in the restaurant but no more when we got home.
Saturday I had a bit of a sobering experience (literally!). About 5pm I got a call from DS to say he was coming home for the night as he was going to a friend's birthday celebration. He said "train getting in at 7.10, don't suppose there is any chance you or dad could pick me up at the station but I just thought I'd check". I was mortified, he wasn't having a go it was just his experience of his parents :(. I had had a glass of wine by 5.00 but only one so I stopped drinking and went to pick my lad up at the station. After I'd dropped him off I didn't drink any more in case he needed me later but in the event they went to a club and he got a cab.
Today I have had 1 glass of wine with the family lunch because I'm taking him back to the station in a little while. not sure whether I will have a drink when I get in but suspect I probably will.
  • I'm reporting in fairly early with no. 8 today please shaggy. I don't usually drink on Sundays, and I'm feeling quite tired and rough, so no bells ringing here thankfully.

    Hi Everyone
Wow that took me a wee while to read through all the posts made in the past few days. As i hadnt read this thread for a few days I was struck by how supportive everyone is and the level of honesty and caring for one another. Sometimes when i am on the boards daily its easy to miss these things as i often skim read then write my post. So just want to say well done everyone :T:T and thank you

It took me a while to 'cotton on' to the references to fireworks on here, i thought it was code for a wee bit of shenanigans ;) maybe thats just how my mind works tho :o

Im not doing so great in November as i had planned, but hoping for a better week. 6 AF please Shaggy (incl tonite) and Bearacus can you put me down for 3 for the SNC this week please.

Away to catch up on Strictly. Have a good week everyone x

i'm really busy with socialising this week so will you put me down for a miserable

2 for the SNC please Bearacus

I had thought about not bothering at all but then I thought 2 is better than nothing and if I flag it up I won't just drift into 'every night drinking' which I know, from experience, is far too easy.
  • I'd like to do the full monty on the SNC please bearacus. Sorry no colours, posting from my phone.

Hmmm. I've been resisting the fact that even 1 is too many for me as i then don't know when to stop. If you can cut back & be sensible well done to you. :T

Total of 13 Afds for me this month, thank you shaggy.

Well done you all for sticking with it xx
  • Youngest child back to uni, I do miss him :(. I'm sure I have drunk more since all my chicks have left. Have any other empty nesters found the same thing?
I did what I knew I was going to do when I got in from dropping him at the station; had several glasses of wine in quick succession.
Still I think I have still drunk much less this weekend than I would normally do.
Bearacus I'm pledging 3 for the SNC but hoping for 4.
