The SNC is the School Night Challenge, an additional challenge to the monthly challenge. Some of the posters on this forum choose not to drink on "school nights", which we usually classify as Mon-Thurs. You can choose to opt for the "full monty" (all 4 nights) or 3, 2, or 1 if you wish. Whatever you want your goal to be :)

Thank you! it is hard to keep up with all the abbreviations :)

    8 for me please, Shaggy.

It's DD2's 18th birthday today (can't believe it!). She has some friends coming for tea today, then lots of friends coming tomorrow for champagne, and I thought it would be a 'nice idea' to invite two of my friends for champers too. However, I really don't want to drink any champagne because a) I only have 4 bottles for lots of people so it would save if I don't have any; b) if I have one drink, I'll want lots more; c) don't want to give bad example to the teenagers. But I don't want to be a boring hostess - I've thought of sneakily giving myself sparkling elderflower and trying to pass it off as champagne, or do I say that I'm on antibiotics or something???? All suggestions welcome!!!!

I'm determined to beat my binge drinking problem - I have nothing during the week then lots on Saturday night, resulting in hangover and panic attacks on Sunday. I've decided that I'll give it a few weeks using willpower and my friends on here, then if still can't do it, I'm going to seek professional help at a place I've been told about by the practice nurse at my GP's surgery.

Have a good day everybody x

    Me also.
My panic attacks have mostly disappeared now, though sometimes I do get waves on anxiety wash over me. They are not alcohol induced however.
  • I've come out to pick the bf up from work so has helped a bit. I just suddenly felt totally depressed, like when your stomach drops and you feel so low, not sure why worryingly.

I hate feeling like that. Sometimes my feelings and my thinking aren't in synch, so while I know everything is alright, I am feeling panicky....

Yes that's exactly it. I suppose the whole point of a panic attack is that it's totally irrational. I used to suffer badly with them, went through a phase of not being able to eat or leave the house. Thankfully I recognise what it is now and can usually talk myself around.

Still feeling irrationally low now though. Maybe its the thought of getting up at 6am for work tomorrow!

Declaring a win after a long evenings battle tonight! So that's 7 for November and 4 for the SNC please. Yay I get my firework :D first full SNC in a while too.

Anyway I need to stay AF tonight because I want my little firework in the morning! :D

Hahaha......I'm on for my firework in the morning too:rotfl:. Well done for drowning out the call of the bells. Hope you feel a bit better tomorrow.

Pricey - I get those panic attacks too, mine hit me in the middle of the night and I'll be awake for hours....they completely wipe me out!! I never have them on my AF days and thankfully now that I've moderated how much I drink at the weekend they seem to be less frequent. I hope your DD's 18th goes well - I think gardenanna's suggestion is a good one!

Welcome allym464 :hello: and good luck on your AF journey.

AF tonight so 7AFD's please shaggy and 4 for the SNC please bearacus

  • AF here tonight also making 5 please Shaggy and my 3 nights completed Bearaus.

I also suffer from panic attacks, but mine happen when I'm in the car which is most upsetting. I do find that I'm not as bad if I've not had a drink for a few days. But the thought of going on a long journey (anything over 4 miles ) worries me sensless.

Off to try and sleep now, cos my sleep pattern is totally disrupted at the mo, and another day with the work experience kiddy beckons tomorrow.

  • 6 afds please shaggy. Interesting to hear how many people have panic attacks with alcohol being an issue. I absolutely can't stand the feeling after having a lot of drink-the panicky feeling is the worst in the world the next day and I feel really guilty too. I don't know why I do it! What i'm trying to do is to try and stop going over the top with wine at the weekends and to drink moderately. I find doing a really hard class at the gym helps me avoid drinking-after I've done a hard hour of Cardio kick, zumba or body pump it seems like sacrilege to pour all the empty calories down my neck!

Well done fpt, having just logged on I've read your posts through the evening and watched you come out on top:T Stand by for fireworks!!!

Well done everyone else who's been AF tonight. That includes me. I had a bit of a wobble earlier but decided I was so determined to complete the full monty on the SNC I wasn't going to give in.

7AFDs and 4 for the SNC thanks Shaggy and Bearacus.
  • I have only managed one out of my target of two on the SNC.

I drank moderately whilst out last night though, Interesting reading about the panic/anxiety stuff from everyone.

I find that I have been waking up in the second half of the night and then feel too anxious to get back to sleep, which makes me tired, less affective and more anxious which makes me want to drink which means I wake up in the second half of the night...

I thought I'd cracked it and started sleeping through again but no. I certainly know there's a link between alcohol and my waking up in the night, the more I drink the more often I tend to wake and worry until 6 and then fall asleep again just before the alarm!

At least it's Friday - morning Shaggy and you gotta love how your fireworks have kept so many people going last night! Thanks!!
