8 for me please, Shaggy.
It's DD2's 18th birthday today (can't believe it!). She has some friends coming for tea today, then lots of friends coming tomorrow for champagne, and I thought it would be a 'nice idea' to invite two of my friends for champers too. However, I really don't want to drink any champagne because a) I only have 4 bottles for lots of people so it would save if I don't have any; b) if I have one drink, I'll want lots more; c) don't want to give bad example to the teenagers. But I don't want to be a boring hostess - I've thought of sneakily giving myself sparkling elderflower and trying to pass it off as champagne, or do I say that I'm on antibiotics or something???? All suggestions welcome!!!!
I'm determined to beat my binge drinking problem - I have nothing during the week then lots on Saturday night, resulting in hangover and panic attacks on Sunday. I've decided that I'll give it a few weeks using willpower and my friends on here, then if still can't do it, I'm going to seek professional help at a place I've been told about by the practice nurse at my GP's surgery.
Have a good day everybody x0 -

Thank you from me too. Your encouraging posts, your own stories and just knowing you're all out there has helped me more than you'll ever know. Yesterday was SOOO stressful and the wine bottle sat there on the counter calling to me. I gave in and poured a glass then thought about NOT completing my first ever SNC and poured it down the sink :j Another 1 for me please Bearacus
PS don't tell Himself I'm throwing booze away:rotfl:0 -

Could you pour yourself a glass of sparkling elderflower for the toast. Don't pass it off as champagne just don't draw attention to it then if anyone comments tell the truth but in a light jokey sort of way - something like " not just now thanks - you know me - once I get started I'll finish the bottle and I want to remember every minute of tonight - it's the last 18th we'll have till the grandchildren arrive" With a bit of luck your daughter will go Muuuum in horror at the idea of babies, the moment will have passed and you'll feel good about telling the truth.
Good luck whatever you do and good luck with your struggle.0 -
Morning all! Well I went to "Book Club" last night (by Christ it was BORING) and had 3 glasses of red. THen I got home and shared a bottle of cider with hubby (a single one, not 2 litres lol) and today I feel like a great fat pile of poo. Dizzy, sweaty, just yuk. I took the dog for a long walk this morning to shake the cobwebs away but have a banging headache and wish I'd stayed AF.
Back on the wagon tonight for me cos i feel so rubbish. Hopefully Ill stay AF until Saturday when I have this work do away and I cant drink much there anyway as I dont want to vom on my manager lol
Well done everyone- I too am inspired by knowing I am not alone- the support here is amazing. THank you all so much!Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.

Are you able to go for a nice long, brisk walk? Or do you have a mate you can phone up for a moan? Otherwise it might help to go to see a movie?
I'm also mega grumpy today due to OH's ridiculous plan to re-arrange the lounge so that it consists entirely of sofas. The bells are in my head too so i have decided to go to a class at the gym....I find that if i make up my mind to snap out of it and make a plan then its a bit easier than being tired and stressed and stewing about it - that only weakens my resolve and i end up de-stressing with a nice 2 litre cask of cheap red plonk...:rotfl:0 -
I've come out to pick the bf up from work so has helped a bit. I just suddenly felt totally depressed, like when your stomach drops and you feel so low, not sure why worryingly.0

Anyway I need to stay AF tonight because I want my little firework in the morning!0
