    Hello. Long time no speak.

Tomorrow is my 2 year sober anniversary. Hurrah for me.

When I realised with the help of this thread that I had to stop drinking I fought the idea for a long long time. Surely I just needed a bit of a break from it all. Surely I had let myself get into a bad habit and now I had a few AFD's under my belt I could go back to drinking like a normal person. When i finally realised that the only way to control my drinking was not to drink it scared the living daylights out of me. How could I stop doing something that I had done everyday for the last 20+ years? I was a drinker, a party girl, a ladette. I prided myself in being able to hold my drink and boy could I. I don't need to say aymore about how low I hit...it wasn't tragic low. I kept my job, my family and my home. But i lost my self respect, my joy of life and most importantly myself.

I would love to say the last 2 years have been easy. Thye haven't but I'm sure a bottle or two of wine wouldn't have made them any easier either.

I'm 2 years sober. I am an alcoholic. I am happy to 'speak' to anyone here if they want to ask me anything about my journey.

Best wishes to you all. May your drinking be under your control whatever that may be.

    Congratulations.
It all seems so long ago doesnt it.

    Take care of YOU

    Love Mollypolly xxxx

    Morning :hello:

Went to the pub last night. Had 2 glasses of wine - probably about 4 units - and ate too much! Had a lovely time :)

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

I have worked out that we probably spend about £300 a month at Sainsburys on wine and beer and probably another £250 (a conservative estimate) a month on alcohol bought in pubs and restaurants

OMG - my gob is truly smacked!!!!:eek:

Thanks for all the kind welcomes, since I finally stopped just "lurking"......unfortunately I have since spectacularly fallen off the wagon and had a bottle and a half of wine on both Thursday and Friday nights !!!! So much for my steely determination
What is it about an open bottle of wine, that must be finished ???? And a second started !!

Anyway, felt very anxious on Saturday, which before reading posts on this forum, I would never have put down to the booze. Now it explains a lot about how I feel after drinking (and of course how much better I am, when I don't).

Have got back on track now, and abstained both last night and tonight, so 2 AFD please Shaggy.......
Here's to a good week, though with the children at home for half term, it'll take some doing !!!

For me it's my alcoholism. When I put alcohol in my body, I start a craving for more. I wouldn't always drink more, but always wanted more. I never had one drink and didn't want another.
