How you all doing? Is there many aa abstainers on here?
I am now 14 months without a drink and my life has really improved, I drank between one glass to two bottles of wine a night for years and things got worse and worse and I decided to give up!!
I struggled to get through one day without a drink and now I cant imagine being a drinker! I sleep well, look years younger, have lost 3 stone with minimum effort, I have no regret, remorse, I dont drive under the influence, I dont let people down and most importantly I dont let myself down!! All of this in return for one drink one day at a time!!!
Its worth it, hope you do whats right for you all
That's fantastic - well done , and now it's my turn to be jealous of the weight loss - three stones is amazing.
Now that you are over a year along the sober road, do you ever think about having a drink? I know that for over a year after stopping smoking I would get cravings but now it almost never happens. DO you get the same feeling?
I'm declaring tonight AF- I have a low calorie hot chocolate drink and am about to go to bed - I'm feeling very tired!
So that's one for the challenge Bearacus and another one for April please Shaggy.
Trying to keep in budget.

Thanks for your support folks.
5 Afs please Shaggy.
I'm going to go for abstinence so I can up my target to the last remaining 20days of the month. I'll then aim for the 30/31 days of every month.
My family clubbed together yesterday and bought me my Birthday present early as a cheer up. Its a Kindle. I've been umming and arring for a while but am really thrilled with it. I'd been weighing up the cost of downloading books on it but you can get some real bargains (freebies and £1 offers). The first book I downloaded yesterday is Allen Carrs "No more hangovers" and I've already finished it. Very encouraging. Will read it over a few times I think but its inspired me. One of the things it made me think about is "why I even find it acceptable to drink it all". When I first started the book I was thinking "I can enjoy a couple now and then" (Wembley at the weekend, bank holidays coming up and an All inclusive holiday booked) but why should I? Whats the pull? It doesn't do anything for me. I'll be asking OH what the match result was on Monday morning if I have that drink on Sunday.
As for friends and their culture of drinking....they will have to accept me. If they love me then they will do this. OH is right behind me and won't struggle to join me if I asked him to but why should he when he only drinks occasionally anyway. I remember a friend saying a while ago that non-drinker are boring. But thats not the case at all.
I have to do this for my health and my family. My job relies on a driving license. I daren't tell you what I do for a living because the irony of it is shocking.....
I can do this. Thank you everyone.

Just wanted to wish you all the best Lala. That could have been written by me 3 years ago.
It was that little book No More Hangovers that was my bible during the early days.
I read and re read it over and over . It certainly helped me and I hope it does you too.
Good Luck

1 further AFD today. I have been on a bit of an emotional rollercoaster, with a few tears and rants along the way. Very emotional chat with DS1 this eve as our relationship has suffered over the last year or so.
I am off to collect my mum from the airport in the morn. It's a 3 hour round trip. The last time I did it I was so hungover, it was a miserable journey.
I certainly won't miss driving under the influence.
sleep well all
