For the old timers on here you may remember me - in fact according to my stats its a year this month since I last checked in.

Welcome back ntc and less of the old if you don't mind!!:p

I'm sorry you've had a stressful year but you know this is the right place to sort out your alcohol excesses. I find it really helps to keep me on track, a bit like a star chart for grown ups!

I'm finding that I'm not really enjoying wine as much as I used to. When I first came on here (2+ years ago) I was happy to quaff the 3 for £10 stuff from Asda every night. I went off that and moved to £5 or £6 bottles. Now I'm not sure whether poorer quality wine is being sold at those prices because of the financial climate or I'm just losing the taste for it?? Yesterday I had 2 glasses at home (small ones) of different wines and a single glass in a bar and I can't say any of them were great.

Anyone had similar experiences? This probably is the wrong thread for advice on what to drink but as a cutter-down I want to enjoy it on my planned evenings.

 hi maman you young whipper snapper you :rotfl:

your right about this been the place for some serious motivation re the pop. I am wanting to cut down quite a bit (not stop) for both health and financial reasons and I seem to have got myself into some really bad habits around alcohol which I am not proud of and need to nip in the bud.

I know what you mean about the wine but Im still on the 3 for 10 due to cost. I do find that they often throw in new bottles that after a few weeks go up in price considerably these are often better quality I guess to get you hooked (mmm literally) before the price goes up.

Its Day 1 of my decision today and whilst it may not be totally alcohol free (will have to see how it goes) it will certainly be a damn sight less that it has been lately.

Its good to catch up with some "young" friends and get moving on this problem again. :):)

sorry i have been AWOL for the last week, i was off work and enjoying the sunshine. managed to clock up 21 days AF for July hoping for an even AF'er August! :) Please can I get included on the SNC? As me and OH were off work we were eating a lot so trying to scale back on the eats and drinks so will be aiming for an AF month.

Sorry that this is rather belated but big congratulations MrsR! x

    Hello
No booze for me on Saturday or Sunday and no drinking planned either. It's going well at the moment but I'm worried about my birthday next week and how on earth I'll explain not drinking...

Congratulations to Mrs R! Welcome to the newbies-I've had plenty of times that I've been ashamed of the way Ive behaved when drinking-behaviour that I would never dream of when sober! I had quite a heavy Saturday night as I met up with some friends from uni-drank quite a bit of wine round the bars but when I found I was feeling pretty sloshed I switched to soft drinks and I ended the night sipping lemonade in the hotel bar. felt a bit ropey on Sunday but not horrendous and hadn't made a fool of myself either (I don't think so anyway!) I'm finishing July on 20 afds and am going to set my August target at 17 afds. Have a great holiday shaggy. Could I put myself down for 4 for the snc too please bearacus.

Big hello to everyone, newbies, oldies and the rest of us inbetweeners! Huge congrats Mrs Rainman on your lovely new addition to the Rainman family
Not been around much the last few weeks, my sis and family are over from NZ for a month so spending lots of time with them, which involves lots of wine and good food. Not good for my AF target or my WW one either! My plan is to remain super focussed mon - fri and then let hair down at weekend.

Bearacus ~ can you put me down for the full monty please this week and Shaggy can you set my Aug target for 12 please
