Hello, just wanted to check in and say 17 afd so far this month, things much better at home and massive thanks for all your support.

It seems I'm a much better person without the booze, so this is the way forward, and I feel so much better. Skin looks great, sleeping well, why didn't I do this years ago?

    Brilliant :j :D

    Morning all

:grouphug: to all who need them :grouphug:

I am pleased to report that I successfully completed school night challenge with the grand total of no drinkies monday through Thursday so the grand total of 4/4 for me :j:D:j I think the only wobbly moment was Wednesday night ? but I resisted :j

Unfortunately, an unplanned trip to the pub last night (met up with friends we haven't seen in ages) means my no more alcohol in June has gone slightly awry but I only had the one glass of red and I had a medium glass (175ml) (and not my usual large 250ml - although I have to confess that I think that was more down to the pub giving me this measure than me requesting it!) and I had a bottle of diet coke either side. I also resisted having an (unmeasured) brandy when I got back home so I have slept fine and I feel fine this morning. :D

I am not sure what will happen today/tonight as weekends are when I perhaps indulge because I know I don't have to get up for work the next day but I don't want to spend all of tomorrow feeling rubbish and thus wasting the day so any alcohol (if consumed tonight) will be limited if I decide to have a drink at all.

    I have a few questions ?

So my total so far since I started is 4/18 overall and 4/4 for school night challenge. Have I counted that correctly ? i.e. I presume I count my AF days twice as effectively doing two challenges at the same time - well the overall challenge but broken down into little challenges (the school night challenge) - hope this waffle makes sense?!

What do you drink when you go the pub when trying to abstain from alcohol ? This is my biggest bugbear (1) that the pub charges so much for soft drinks (2) that coke/diet coke on tap is not very nice (3) that there isn't much else to pick from - J20 full of sugar :( (and since I'm following Slimming World - they are 6.5 syns a pop). I would be interested to know what other posters pick because I never know what to go for. Even the lemonade on tap tastes funny :(

And what do you drink at home instead of alcohol ? I'm not a big tea or coffee drinker - don't really (drink enough) water so will have a glass of lemonade or the like but out of interest what do others drink instead ?

Hi Flat Eric. They do cans of sprite zero at my local which are free on SW, and I like to drink NAS lime & soda at home which is also free. Not when you add copious amounts of vodka to it though which I did last night though :o Feeling quite rough this morning.

Shaggy, you seem to have knocked an AF day off my score!!! I'm sure I was on 10 yesterday! But no more to report

I'm enjoying a nice hot chocolate instead of my usual Saturday night glass of red :j and starting on a cross stitch project rather than drinking the night away.

I usually succumb to a glass of red on sunday evenings as well despite it being work on Monday but I will try to keep up the good work and resist. That will mean in a week, all I have had is 175ml of red wine.:T

Looking forward to next week's school night challenge 4 again for me please

    13 please, Shaggy, thanks

:jI did it, no wine for me last night :j Even though Mr Pricey had bought a couple of bottles of cava  He drank one, and was just so annoying. That's the main reason I usually drink on Saturday nights - the only way I can stand his sozzled company is if I'm equally sozzled. I collected DD3 from friend's house at 11:30 pm, still teetered when I got home, very tempted to pour a large glass of wine as a treat  but resisted. I am very pleased with myself today :T We are going for a meal this evening en famille, but I will resist having a glass of wine, as it is Monday tomorrow :D

    Morning!
Had a couple of glasses of white wine last night and this morning I really feel it - very sluggish and I woke up with dry mouth and sore throat

Double thankyou. Was fancying buying a bottle last night but from magic my brain though "no you will just feel rubbish Sunday with a yukky dry mouth and bad head".

I think your post was in my subconscious from reading earlier in the day.

    This thread is great :)
Still on my AF thanks to all your help. It's been 40 days and 40 nights lol :)

I'm lucky in that my friend's mostly have children and don't tend to see pubs as the optimum place to socialise. If I do find myself in a pub it's lemonade with lime as it makes it nicer, or coke. If I offer to drive it's a good excuse to 1)not drink 2)give a lift home if someone buys me a soft drink.
At home I drink tea, very weak ribena or water. Use to be a big mineral water drinker but now I've learnt to refill the bottle with tap water for moneysaving. My other half still likes the posh stuff.
