OP, have you checked your tenancy agreement to see whether it includes a break clause at six months?

..If so your ordeal could be ended sooner than you thought possible.

OP - unfortunately none of us can control the behaviour of our neighbours.

Your LL may however agree to release you early from your contract if you pay the reasonable advertising etc costs involved in getting replacement Ts into the property. You would also be obliged to pay rent/CTax etc until the new Ts could move in. Ask the LL.

You don't have to explain to the LL *why* you want to go - it could be a "job move", a "need to be nearer aged relatives" etc. Offer to help get the property advertised and to help with viewings.( edit: although, looking back, it reads as though you have already told the LL and LA about some of the issues)

He is using prostitutes!!! he a man in his late 60's early 70's and he pays young girls in there late teens early 20's to have sex with him.
He obviously has no respect for women!!

A pervert is someone who wears raincoats and hangs outside school playgrounds with bags of sweets. A pervert is someone who steals your smalls from the washing line.

This fella just sounds like a lonely old chap, who still has needs, who pays consenting women for their company. He's not murdering, hurting or raping anyone.

No offence, and with all due respect, but you hardly sound like a model neighbour yourself.

Prostitution isn't illegal here, and the majority of working girls in the UK aren't people trafficked slaves being forced into the sex trade. They may well, for reasons that arent entirely their fault, have made a series of increasingly poor life decisions that have led them to careers most of us wouldnt want for our daughters, but thats a separate issue.

To be fair to the OP, she does fall into a majority of people who would have a problem with a neighbour using a prostitute frequently. Unfortunately neither that or the noise are really the landlords concern, so I doubt she would be released from the tenancy early.

How do you know the visitors are prostitutes?

Could they be care workers to help him take medication, do a spot of cooking, get ready for bed or such like? It could be a husband or boyfriend waiting outside.

They could be members of his family taking it in turns to see that he is alright.

Do you actually know what is going on?

As to the noise, there are lots of threads on here about noise from upstairs flats - noise intrusion from everyday living where the person upstairs is seemingly unaware that they are causing an annoyance.

Why not just try to see the good in your neighbour... is he really impacting on your life that much or is your interpretation of his lifestyle and YOUR reaction the thing that is causing your disquiet?

No they really don't. God willing your daughter if you have one? Makes the right career choice. Or would it be ok because you approve of prostitution?

Why judge?, a friend of mine has been servicing a gentleman from a certain middle eastern country twice a year since the mid 80s.

Her "career" has seen her do very well, she has a mayfair apartment which I wouldnt dare guess the price of, but would be in the millions, sports car, all the trappings of a millionaire lifestyle etc etc, all for the work of two evenings a year.

She is also studying for her 2nd Phd not bad eh for a morally corrupt woman of ill repute.

The issues which you have with your neighbour and your tenancy agreement are two separate issues.

I'm sure you understand that you cannot hope to take action against someone because of their lifestyle and/or morality.

That is simply a comparative judgement.

The Police only detect criminal offences and as none have been revealed, they will not be able to assist.

Does the man own the flat or rent it?

If rented, your only recourse would be to speak to his landlord.

As for your tenancy, it is a contractual agreement between your landlord and you. I am sure that there are no statements contained therin which warrant or allude to the agreeable and peaceable behaviours of neighbours since such things are out of your landlords control.

Should you choose to up and leave, you might get away with it or he may pursue you.

You will have to evaluate that probability.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

RE the prostitutes - Is there any noise when the erm... "transaction" is taking place? If so, you could possibly complain to the council about the excessive noise. Apart from that, what can you do? You could go up and see him and ask him that the drivers/pimps park around the corner rather than directly outside if it's the cars that are bothering you.

If you really want out, then talk to your landlord. It may be that if he can find someone else to move in quickly, then you could possibly negotiate an early release of your contract.

    Jeez.

Let's not confuse material wealth and educational attainment with morality and ethics.

Your friend is basically a !!!!!. A slag. A prostitute. An escort. Whatever name you want to label her. That's what women who sells their bodies for money are.

She obviously has no respect for herself or her body and 'twice a year' is the biggest load of guff i've ever read.

Once her sell-by date is achieved and she can count her millions, she will still be morally and ethically bankrupt. And as she gets older and needs the companionship of a decent bloke, she's going to find it hard to find a man that can accept her whoring past.

I have no issues with prostitutes but to suggest they lead morally and ethically decent lifestyles is stretching it a bit...pun intended. I think that these morally-bankrupt women provide a valuable service to men who can poke them for a fee and not have to be nagged to death.

But, please, let's not suggest that being poked for money is in any way a lifestyle to be proud of.

I think the point that was being made is what gives any of us the right to judge someone else's morality or ethics?

Provided it is legal it is their choice. There is no absolute definition of what is ethical or moral. It varies from culture to culture, person to person.
