Watched this and wasn't impressed, the programme seems to have lost its edge. The family who were 'living' for a week on £50.00 wern't really as it never took into account breakfast and lunch.
aaaggghhh. We've been on hol so only just caught up with the programme and hadn't realised that. I felt so sorry for them, thinking £20 had to do them 5 days all meals, when they were a family of 5 and the eldest 'child' was 17 and the next a 12 yo boy<<< I have 1 of them and am pretty sure it would be cheaper to feed an Olympic body building team instead. :D I realise the programme is edited for better viewing but they didn't seem to get help with their meal plans. When the husband suggested making pasta sauce by using tinned toms and the wife said no, I really thought they could do with a helping hand and also when she insisted on a large bottle of squash to show them alternatives. :D

    Hi
I get mad at the obvious tips but its the unnecessary spending too, i dont buy jewellery I have a few pieces but to buy all the crafts to make jewellery is excessive - how much jewellery can you wear - if they had been selling it the tips wsould have been better. similarly with the garden planter -- ok if you have old pipe to advise buying it? the family were ridiculous and I noticed the £50 didn't include the girls birthday present!

only the gold feature I found interesting

i liked that bit but only because i cottoned onto the gold things weeks ago in 8 weeks iv spent £20 - £30 on buying gold and made £300 selling it, superscrimpers does seems dumbed down wheres the lady that does all the cooking with cheap bits of meat.

The gold part made me dig out all my old bits of gold and silver. I've weighed them, and if I get what they say I should I'll be over £700 richer :T

The electricity bill part I lost interest in - maybe the woman just didn't understand what she'd been told originally.
the price of gold can change from day to day and also depends on what hall marks you have on the jewellery.

this is the website i use to check the price, get a qoute and check the hall marks.

That girl who does the sewing needs to learn what she's talking about. She was saying to sew hems up with slip stitch and then was shown doing herringbone stitch.
thought is was just me who noticed that, half of theses 'experts' dotn seem to know what they are doing.

That's a relief. I thought I must have been going mad.

My OH is a cosmetic scientist, and he said if you took the advice about car polishing with face scrub, you may scratch all the paint off! He says that most scrubs have walnut shells in them!

And there's nothing wrong in getting cheap versions of T Cut - they're cheaper than face scrubs.

And if things are really bad, the supermarket version of Cif cream is more appropriate.

  • just watched this today (am off of work as sprained my ankle!) and I was struck by how unhealthy the woman looked who spent so much on food and ate so much crap. I was impressed with dinners for for 5 days, (I can cook so things would be more tasty!) have a hm takeaway and eating out for £50. I might challenge myself to this but in a much healthier way

We do have them or eat out now and again as a treat but even then our weekly food bill is never anywhere near £382. I can't see how it would be possible to spend that much even if you ate takeaway every day!

I get palpitations if my weekly shop goes over £40 (that includes top ups of milk and bread and any cleaning stuff), and there's 3 of us with 2 being manual workers (heavy trade)
CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J
