Just flicked onto it today, and they'd made a mountain out of supermarket food, takeaways etc in the garden to show the family how much they're "wasting" every week on food. Surely a better use of the time, food and money would be to show them how many people that amount of money could feed in say, a homeless shelter, every week?

Hypocrites much? Showing people that they're wasting money by... wasting money!!!

I didn't think the meals they were having tonight looked that good either, but I reckon it was because with living off all those takeaways and ready meals, they can't cook. Bit of kitchen-based practice/education and the meal would be tastier I'm sure.

I also was wondering what on earth they were managing to spend hundreds on the weekly shop on, when most of the week they get takeaways or eat out! Bet most of it doesn't get used.
  • Psych. assistance would have been more appropriate; she looked like she was turning into a compulsive food hoarder, and her figure (very slim legs, not slim torso) suggested that the weight had been put on over a very short period of time, so possibly developing a binge eating disorder.

But hey, the story about just managing once they have help is all made up for the cameras, isn't it? It won't make a blind bit of difference once they finish with their bit of TV attention, they'll be back down the chippy if the stupid shopping is all real to begin with.

It's the first time I've watched it tbh, it's very like "spendaholics" I used to like that. Even sounds like the same VoiceOver fella. But got bored after half an hour. The button rings were, erm, interesting, lol.

As I find the programme generally irritating but want to watch ( in case there's something of interest but mainly to feel smug:D) I recorded it last night and then flicked through all the repeat bits, boring bits, silly bits etc. and just watched what was left!:rotfl:

It never fails to amaze me that there are still people who out there that are prepared to eat so much junk food and pay handsomely for it! I really had hoped the healthy eating/cook from scratch message was getting through but apparently not. I thought the guy in that family was prepared to give it a go and wanted to save money but didn't want to upset his wife unduly. Neither of them seemed to be able to cook so the food looked revolting. Alarm bells rang for me as soon as she refused point blank to try and make a pasta sauce.

Hairy Bikers have a programme on later where they're cooking food that's not as calorie laden as their usual recipes. I'm sure I'll enjoy that more.

I think there's definitely a market for a saving money/cooking/OS programme but Superscrimpers isn't it for me.

I agree with most of the comments not many new tips and we never spent a lot of money on kids activities - lots of time in the park and free museums etc - although my son did have some great subsidised trips to America with the scouts.

However the cheesey nibbles are divine!

    Think it's in this one.

Agreed, her weight shouldn't really be an issue but her oily face should! I want to throw a pot of loose powder at her(or talc ;)) The shine makes her look really unhealthy.

That girl who does the sewing needs to learn what she's talking about. She was saying to sew hems up with slip stitch and then was shown doing herringbone stitch.

Watched this and wasn't impressed, the programme seems to have lost its edge. The family who were 'living' for a week on £50.00 wern't really as it never took into account breakfast and lunch. The lady had a serious chocolate addiction I think I couldn't eat that amount in a month of sundays I'd be sick for one thing. The food she cooked didn't look very appetising I think she just wasn't a very good cook perhaps a course of proper cooking lessons would have helped her better. It also didn't take into account the basic things like bread, milk sugar cleaning product etc I live fairly well on a thirf of their 50 quid and I eat fruit and veg as well I didn't see much sign of fresh fruit for the little one. They seem even when out for a meal to be eating a lot of fried stuff and chips with everything.I'd lay good money that they are back eating take-aways again

Yes I did know and it's because I know she has that sort of background that it surprises me that she appears to lack control over her eating. As nat said, she doesn't look at all healthy. The woman who was wasting money on this week's programme obviously is a can't cook/won't cook person and stuffs herself with chocolate who needs to learn. That's not what I would expect from the sort of individual you're describing. Healthy eating isn't rocket science is it?

That's just my opinion, others may think differently.
