Is it only me that got quite upset with the fact those girls spend £16000 a year on clothes, make up and eyelashes but bartered down a £40 wardrobe to £15 from a charity that helps homeless? I mean, don't get me wrong, I know it's been done to prove a point etc but it just seemed so wrong to me.Everything is always better after a cup of tea0

It certainly wouldn't happen in any charity shop I have ever been in. the answer from the manager is usually 'This is a charity shop. Not a bootsale'. And the price is not changed.
(I've actually seen people march in to barter on every single little teeny thing, then when refused, go over the road to the next one and try it on there, saying, 'xxxxx shop said i could have one just like this for..........'. And they've been clearly refused there as well.)I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

I didn't realise that was a charity shop, although I did think it was a bit cheeky to ask for a £30 discount, but yes definitely wrong to barter in a charity shop, they probably only said yes for the cameras, as CS don't usually allow discounts.chirpychick wrote: »In all my life (and hubby's as he is 20 years older than me lol) have either of us ever known someone who has had to have a whole panel of a car re sprayed because of bird poo!!

It would never occur to me that the car would need a respray for that, OH just uses soapy water and it comes off ok, it would cost us a fortune if we had to pay out for a respray every time a bird pooped on the car, as it happens almost every day where we live, lol!Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs

It was a charity shop? I thought it mustn't be BECAUSE they were having the girls bargain for money off things. You don't do that in a charity shop, it's terrible modern etiquette!
I am convinced they look on here and nick ideas, such as the laundry gloop bit. And I was sat thinking that in the amount of time he was taking cleaning the bird poo off the car, there was a fair chance a bird would poo on it again during the cleaning, ahahaha.0 -
*first time in OS board!*
I find bits of SuperScrimpers interesting, although most of it I've already seen on blogs etc. The thing that I dislike is a lot of it seems to be aimed at families and homeowner types, I'm a 24 year old in a flatshare and a lot of it just doesn't feel relevant...0 -
It seems to me especially with the so-called 'tips' by the car chap that they are desperately trying to impress folk with his 'know how' Common sense tells you that a bucket, sponge and warm soapy water will get bird dropping off your car Its not rocket science mate, its condesending and treating us 'ladies'as though we are thick.I've never yet had to respray any car of mine because of bird droppings A lot of the tips seem like that, the fuss the young woman made about spraying manky old beads that you could probably buy at a bootsale for pennies ! well no one I know could be a$$ed to sit and spray the blooming things.Beads to hang around your neck as a 'statement' comes waaaay down the list of things more important, like living on a restricted income, and for many families feeding their children. This programme has lost its edge, and really can't be taken seriously anymore. I for one wouldn't wander like a fairy through the woods to pick weeds to eat,not a very good idea for any children that are watching as I drummed into my kids not to pick things and eat them unless I saw A. what it was and B. I was there to supervise them. I know the voice over anounced that you had to be careful but children never hear warning like that they just hear what they want to hear.
The two young ladies bargaing in a charity for the homeless so they could furnish a very smart flat seemed to me to be more than a bit insensitive, and just downright wrong.Stop spending buckets of cash on useless stuff and buy good second- hand bits, and if its necessery renovate with elbow grease and a bit of sandpaper and paint.Don't rob the homeless of extra cash just so you can prance about being 'trendy'
These folk don't live in the reality of life as thousands of people do. I used to help a woman's charity for battered wives and believe me when you see what some women end up with on the hostel doorstep, just the clothes they stand up in and several kids that is poverty on a major scale. These folk need help desperately, not only to be rehoused in saftey, but kids have left not only their clothes behind and all their furniture, but their toys and loved objects just to get to a place of saftey
These young women on the programme are not poverty stricken by circumstances but just overspending on things to impress their equally overspending friends.
As Mr Royal senior would say "broke, my !!!!!'0 -

I am 24 also, I think all they aim at us is bits about make-up etc.
I really miss the older women that showed you how to cook with cheaper cuts of meat, or how to do everyday tasks without spending lots - they were the best tips and it seems they have gotten rid of them all0
