I find bits of SuperScrimpers interesting, although most of it I've already seen on blogs etc. The thing that I dislike is a lot of it seems to be aimed at families and homeowner types, I'm a 24 year old in a flatshare and a lot of it just doesn't feel relevant...

The one bit I have been really pleases about on this series was I think in the first episode, where they made home made chocolate lolli pops - such an easy idea yet I had never even thought about trying. I loved the digestive biscuits being decorated too.
I too miss the lady who showed you lots of different meals to make out of left oversMum, wife and dinnerlady!0 -
I quite enjoyed it last night. Here dead we lie because we did not choose
To live and shame the land from which we sprung.
Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
And we were young.

I didn't understand the point of students renting unfurnished to save 500 a year...what about buying furniture?
Also, hot soapy water to wash off bird poo...wow!0 -
It seems to me especially with the so-called 'tips' by the car chap that they are desperately trying to impress folk with his 'know how' Common sense tells you that a bucket, sponge and warm soapy water will get bird dropping off your car Its not rocket science mate, its condesending and treating us 'ladies'as though we are thick.I've never yet had to respray any car of mine because of bird droppings A lot of the tips seem like that, the fuss the young woman made about spraying manky old beads that you could probably buy at a bootsale for pennies ! well no one I know could be a$$ed to sit and spray the blooming things.Beads to hang around your neck as a 'statement' comes waaaay down the list of things more important, like living on a restricted income, and for many families feeding their children. This programme has lost its edge, and really can't be taken seriously anymore. I for one wouldn't wander like a fairy through the woods to pick weeds to eat,not a very good idea for any children that are watching as I drummed into my kids not to pick things and eat them unless I saw A. what it was and B. I was there to supervise them. I know the voice over anounced that you had to be careful but children never hear warning like that they just hear what they want to hear.
The two young ladies bargaing in a charity for the homeless so they could furnish a very smart flat seemed to me to be more than a bit insensitive, and just downright wrong.Stop spending buckets of cash on useless stuff and buy good second- hand bits, and if its necessery renovate with elbow grease and a bit of sandpaper and paint.Don't rob the homeless of extra cash just so you can prance about being 'trendy'
These folk don't live in the reality of life as thousands of people do. I used to help a woman's charity for battered wives and believe me when you see what some women end up with on the hostel doorstep, just the clothes they stand up in and several kids that is poverty on a major scale. These folk need help desperately, not only to be rehoused in saftey, but kids have left not only their clothes behind and all their furniture, but their toys and loved objects just to get to a place of saftey
These young women on the programme are not poverty stricken by circumstances but just overspending on things to impress their equally overspending friends.
As Mr Royal senior would say "broke, my !!!!!'

My youngest DD is a letting negotiator at a local estate agents and believe me if someone thought that they could haggle the price down by wearing a smart suit they are living in la-la land My DD has been in the estate agents busines both selling and letting for years both before having a family and since and when I spoke to her tonight about what that daft woman was suggesting she fell about laughing At the end of the day landlords want paying tenants and there is a local rate that all estate agents usually go by,from the more modest two up two down terraced houses to the more lavish 4-6 bedroomed ones .She gets a flat commission fee no matter how much the rent is and the agency has a flat fee for renting properties out I'm afraid Mrs Moneypenny is talking through her absurd B&Q orange hat (which seems to be missing this time
:))
If t.v. is going to make a money saving programme then why waste the excellent opportunity by making this dross
By the way I too thought the older lady from the last series was great, as she not only showed how to make the food and what it turned out like, but had sensible tips for people to listen too.
I watched the programme tonight at 8.00 about folk and their struggle to feed their familes and how food banks are on the increase. This is what people need to see not some daft woman spraying beads but someone showing youngsters how to make a lb of mince feed a family for two days at least for as little as possible
I was in the Sainsbobs supermarket last night, and a young lass by the side of me looked at a cabbage that had been reduced to 10p and said to me 'How do I peel and cook it I have only ever bought it frozen in a bag '
needless to say I explained how, bless her she wanted to give it a go but hadn't a clue what to do.A simple basic cookery t.v. programme could help so many people streeetch their pennies a bit more .My bargains were 2 x Galia Melons, a box of tomatoes,a bag of cut runner beans,2 x 5 kg bags of spuds and a 7 kg bag of onions all at 10p each a total of 70p .The onions I have cut and diced lots up for freezing and I knocked on my neighbours doors and gave them all at least half a dozen each. At 10p for huge net of them I wanted to spread my good fortune around a bit.The melons my DGS demolished this afternoon whist we were sitting fanning ourselves watching the Olympics, brilliant 20psworth and cheaper than a litre of ice cream
The 10KG of spuds I gave to my youngest DD as with her tribe they will soon be gone. The runner beans have gone into my freezer and the tomatoes will be used up in sandwiches and salads this weekend.best 70psworth I have spent this week:)
