you could not cut the sleeves but just turn then to the inside and sew a seam for neatness on the outside. Alternatively make the sleeves a feature and cross them over the front or back and sew them in place. Alternatively sew a French seam and/or bind the raw edges with a zig zag stitch.

    morning all,

can i just mention,if you have a sky box and are no longer "under contract" with them, usually a year i think- you can cancel your package with them, and the box and card you already have becomes a "freesat" service ,loads of channels,no money!

it was actually the sky person who told me this when i cancelled!lovely of him really.

Can I be stupid and ask if this works for the SKY+ bit as well. I am keen to get out from SKY (even though when we ring upto leave we get some nice discounts:D) but I thought my OH said that we would loose the recording part of SKY. We hardly watch anything live and so need the recording part but don't really watch any of the SKy channels.

Hi gem68 and chumbasmum. As far as I'm aware, unless Sky have changed their tariff, to keep the plus features of recording etc you have to pay £10 per month. I don't know if it is more if it's an HD box.

Hi Florenceem, I sold an old sky+ box on ebay a while back and had to give the buyer my old cards with it to get it to work. But I also sold the sky HD+ box and the buyer of that didn't have any problems at all. As said above, it will probably recieve no problem but not sure about the recording feature.

Still can't decide on last night's programme. It felt a little like the researchers had been on MSE and nicked a lot of the ideas! But I'm sure there are people who don't check in here so it will probably do some good I hope.

    All the best,

hey :) just wondered if anyone got the sausage pasta recipe from the first programme? wanted to try it as i have about a mllion sausages in the freezer and get sick of the same thing :) i cant find it on the superscrimpers website... maybe its just me :) thanks :D
Hi. Not sure if anybody else has posted the recipe but I quickly listed it down as follows:
Sausages cut into 3 bite size pieces
    Chopped onion, celery and peppers
Tin of chopped tomatoes (plus some water)
    Tomato puree
Fry ingredients then add chopped toms and water.
Cook pasta separately and serve on plate. Add sausage mixture on top of pasta.

    Hope that helps.

I like the idea of 'feature sleeves'! Like a Nanna's hug.......

Do you know of someone with an overlocker? Maybe a local W.I. or knitting circle? They could then properly deal with the raw edges.

I love that! The little corsage thing is lovely too. The jumpers i have are more knitted (how do you get more knitted I dont know) My Gran whom has passed knitted my little boy some cardigans when he was tiny but i know if i cut the sleeves off they will unravel?! I would love for these to be seen everyday and not put in a box and forgotten about x

You can cut off the sleeves IF, prior to doing the deed, you sew three or more lines of stitches on what will be the body-side of the cut using a sewing machine. That is to seal the cut. The stitches have to be small (note my machine has a special "knit stitch" which automatically does a tripple row of stitches. I'd still run two rows of stitches, just to make sure). Also, make sure you leave a sufficient seam allowance between the stitches and the cut edge to stop the sewing machine stitches just pulling out of the fibre, say an inch.

If you are going to felt the cardigans/jumpers, do that first.

You will effectively be applying a knitting technique called "steeking" to the cardigans, which is where a jumper is knitted whole, as a tube, all the way from the bottom hem to the shoulder with spare stitches inserted to mark the start of the sleeves. Then the seam is cut, stitches get picked up and the sleeve knitted down to the wrists. Steeking is used extensively in Scandinavian, Fair-isle and fisherman's-gansey knitwear.

Did I miss something or was superscrimpers not on last week? It's on tonight but either I missed it last week or it wasn't aired.
