The guy who was lubricating the car with the candle (there's a phrase I never thought I'd write) was causing it to stop and start by constantly pressing the button (you can hear it!) and then, when it's "fixed" he just presses it once so the window goes up smoothly!

  • wonderful meal. a lot of all this cheap meals stuff is stemming from the fact that kids arent taught to cook any more!!! get cookery lessons back on the curriculum, show them how to cook good, nourishing meals for cheaper than they could every have thought of..

this is so true or as I read somewhere they are told to bring in bought pastry rather than making it from scratch. I still have my book of recipes from home economics lessons - how many ways with mince did we get taught. Make one big batch and it does lots of different things as everyone on here knows.

  • I enjoyed the first couple of episodes but must admit last nights was poor. I havent seen any of the previous series were they better?

  • Well last night's episode was obviously so riveting that I fell asleep though it twice, once when it was on and later when I watched it (I record it just in case I miss it).

I have to admit I sit watching it thinking I wonder if any of the people on there giving tips are members on here. I agree Loved Alvin Hall and think Martin would do a far better thing of presenting the programme and be far more believable

I thought the last series was awful and I'm not impressed by this one either. It's a waste of good eyeballs to watch it!

    that made me giggle :rotfl:

I am SO glad I wasn't the only one to notice that!

Can't stand that bloke at the best of times

We stayed in a hostel last year with our walking group and it was good. The breakfast was better than most hotels . We slept in dorms but there was one double room avaliable which we allocated to the couple who organised the trip. I'm sure they said it had bunk beds though. Also that hostel wouldn't let us bring our own alcohol in .

We often stay in youth hostels and NEVER have we had a room with a double bed and NEVER is the bed ready made up for you, there is always a sealed bag of bedding waiting for you to DIY. Nothing wrong in any of that - it is one reason why they are cheap places to stay, but there is everything wrong in this programmes inaccurate portrait!

Completely agree with you. Mind you there's no way I'd have a stranger living in my house even if I didn't have children!

I'm going to watch the last episode, but I don't think I'll be bothering with any other series.
Lots of people are host families for foreign students - they are strangers coming into your home. There is a language school in my town. I had students who used the bathroom and I had six children. It was a way for me to earn while being home with my children.

We had no cookery lessons at Infant/Junior School. I went as a volunteer a few years ago to my Grandchildren's Primary school and taught six year olds how to make muffins.
