I was surprised that they were advocating 'at home' parties making 20k a year...that is on a full time basis, and if it was that easy wouldn't everyone be making that much money?! I am in two minds about lodgers - as a student, I want people to rent out a room to me...but as a homeowner, I would not be at all convinced it was a good idea!
Like the idea of the upholstery though, those chairs would look good under a glass dining table (with black woodwork). I thought the hostel couple were very gracious...they might stick with walking a bit more but can't imagine the homemade perfume gift or pizza as a romantic meal (with a bottle of lambrini) would go down well again!
Would putting milk into your houseplants not smell? Or would it just get absorbed straight away...?We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0 -
Re the perfume
No this does work and the scent lasts as long as the liquid
I use a little bit of vodka flower water and Essential oils.
also means i can copy my favourite body shop jasmine scent for pennies.

We often stay in youth hostels and NEVER have we had a room with a double bed and NEVER is the bed ready made up for you, there is always a sealed bag of bedding waiting for you to DIY. Nothing wrong in any of that - it is one reason why they are cheap places to stay, but there is everything wrong in this programmes inaccurate portrait!
Yes we had to make up our bunks too-and strip them on the last day. It was fun but not what I would call romantic although the fact that DH and I were in separate dorms might have had something to do with that.
We are going again this year. I think it's costing us £25 each per night with breakfast.0 -
I've stayed in youth hostels with double beds but always had to make my own bed!

I haven't watched last nights but i have loved it! I am now totally on the look out for some cute cup and saucers to make my BFF some candles as she loves kitsh, have 3 little pots of jam procured from our last hotel stay to make some lip balm and am going to learn how to service my own car! :money:DF as at 30/12/16

my MIL has always had lodgers, even when her children were young. It's not something that appeals to me and she treats them so well that I'm sure they end up costing her money for food, electricity etc!
But I think if we were really desperate for money it would be an option - and using loft space or your driveway would be a really easy way to get a little extra cash.
I would never do Body Shop/Vie/Jamie at Home parties though! I can't stand things that are based on making money out of friends. When ever I've gone to one I've spent the whole time working out what the cheapest thing is that I can get away with buying! I'd rather just give my friend a tenner and be done with it!weaving through the chaos...0 -
Who is going to rent out your loft and what for? Who is going to be coming and going in your house and how often.
How many people have a driveway that they dont use. The only people i have known is old people who have bought their house and dont drive so dont need drive anymore.:footie:0
