I got the humax foxsat box and got rid of sky and it's brilliant. And not having to pay a monthly fee(on top of the licence fee) is a real boon!
We watched superscrimpers last night recorded and my OH said exactly the same as you, it would take so long to knock our house into shape to exchange it wouldn't be worth it!
All the best,
Spigs
Hi Spiggle
Do you like the Humax box? I'm having a toss up between that one and a samsung one, they both get great reviews. Did you get it for a good price? sorry for all the questions, just that I'm so indecisive when it comes to things like that.0 -

Hi Ostaragirl,
Yes I do like it. It has a few odd quirks which if I bothered to read the manual more I'm sure I could iron out!I spent months looking at prices, working out the best place to buy from including cashback if I got it through quidco or similar and eventually plumped for Amazon. I have the 500gb drive HD+ or whatever they're calling it these days and it is blooming marvellous. In the end I paid £206.90.
But do remember it is not Sky and so you have to take a little time to work your way around it but it was up and running straight out of the box in just a few minutes. Took about an hour or so to get to grips with operating/recording and I'm still finding the odd shortcut here and there but as I said I haven't read the manual thoroughly!
Do check out the humax direct website as they had some great offers on bundles to include e.g. network plugs but I haven't been on there for ages now. P*xmania also had good prices. But do go through one of the cashback sites like quidco or topcashback although humax direct you can't get to through there. If you go to Amazon make sure you sign up at nectar.com first as at least you can get nectar points for the purchase.
Hope all that ramble helps but any other questions, please do ask.
Take care,

Thank you Spiggle,
I'm the same been researching for ages! have now at least decided I'm going to go for the Humax rather than Samsung. I spent ages today looking at prices and it's on my todo list to sign up for Top CB, I'm not too worried about the technical side, have OH for that lol. You got me thinking about nectar though, that's something I'm not familiar with. Where I stay we the only place you can collect points is Homebase and I've never gone on the website so you have prompted me to do that too. Thanks for all your help....x Just can't wait to be sky payment free!0 -
