My partner has had to travel London to Birmingham a couple of times and depending on the time of the train it has often been cheaper to go 1st class than normal. This is still money saving, although won't necessarily be seen as that.

anyone else feeling sorry for sky and virgin customer services tomorrow? How many calls do you think thy will be getting threatening to leave?

I didn't think they did a good job of getting discounts. One of them saved something like £2.50 a month. When I called Sky, I got half-price subscription for 6 months, free HD upgrade and box, free installation of multiroom (which was the reason I actually phoned, but decided to try the "I'm leaving" strategy first) and £50 in M&S vouchers.

Martin could do a better job.

Although Mrs Moneypenny is convincing she lacks the street cred and people power that Martin has.

She is wearing some very expensive clothes, what looks like an Hermes scarf and Designer wear. She looks great but I get the feeling that she is in this business too late.

    Some excellent tips though.

At the risk of lowering the tone, I don't think she looks great at all. I'd call her fat and frumpy! It's suprising how you have expectations that someone with such a good career record would have herself more under control.

I expect Ch4 just want us to think she's 'one of us' because 'We're all in this together' aren't we!;)

Somebody was buying oxtail in the butchers last week and they paid £7 for what looked lke quite a small amount of meat especially there's so much bone. You also have to cook it for ages so I'm not sure if it could be counted as a cheap meal anymore.

I also have doubts about the lip balm. I use a beeswax based balm and although a pot costs over £3 it lasts for ages. I'm not sure how much beeswax costs but doubt if it would be that cheap if you have to order it on the internet by the time you've paid postage etc. My Dd bought a bottle of almond oil recently and it was about £1.50. I know you wouldn't use much in the balm but unless you use a lot of balm or can find a use for the leftover ingredients it might well bb better to buy balm .

I have always loved liver since a child, and eat it often. I also cook oxtail stew (got some reduced in Morrisons last week for £1!! I buy my pork chops from my butcher and there is often a kidney attached. Going to try the kidney dish soon. I love stuffed hearts as well.
Regarding Sky I've never paid full price with them, I always haggle from one deal to another.
Talking of designer clothes, I always wear designer stuff, only I buy it all on Ebay! When checking for our house insurance recently OH said my wardrobe was worth about £10,000! Didn't cost me more than £600!

To be utterly blunt Superscrimpers is just a swizz with the majority of their stuff probably lifted from these very web pages. There is nothing that they have come up with - contributors as well - that hasn't been discussed or done by any one of us here. It makes me feel like they are being disingenous by casting their 'ideas' off as 'their own', when in truth it is nothing of the kind.

I wasn't impressed by the previous run of SuperScrimpers and I am even less loathed to sit and waste an hour of my time watching this series either. If I sound annoyed - that is because quite simply I am. I would have far more time for them all if they had the integrity to own up and say truthfully where they originated their ideas from!

And one final thing you MARK MY WORDS that potato trick with the apple in the bag mentioned herein by one of our very own members of MSE - you flipping wait that will crop up on Super Scrimpers! Even though the original idea eminated from here
Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money :D
  • I have designers clothes that I picked up in charity shops and from ebay a lot cheaper than orginally priced. TKMaxx is also good in that respect.
As to the offal conversation I can't stand any of it but my parents will quite happily eat most of it. Depends on what you were brought up on. You can buy tongue and other things from Asda quite cheaply not that I ever would.
Its true that Mrs M is not a superscrimper, she just finds all these other people but I don't get the deal with the bright orange hat. It doesn't go with the rest of her clothes. It may just be so that you recognize her quickly and she stands out.
