No point working - why not just go on benefits?

Yep, you need to arrange your affairs to maximise benefits. i.e. pass on capital to children etc. so that you are well under the £16K limit and the the house can't be sold to pay care home costs.
As taxation sky rockets and everything is means tested, there's no point in being 'in the squeezed middle' when you hit 60. Best to have nothing or ££ millions. For most of the middle-classes, aiming to have £0 capital in your name at retirement makes a lot of sense.
Of course, the govt. lies about this and promotes thrift, so that they have a pool of mugs to rob blind! The dole scroungers/"seekers" have it figured out, sitting back on CB, IB, HB, JSA, DLA, AA etc. and living it up on easy street!
All planned for, of course -

Funny how african kids run 10 miles to school every morning, and love to get educated but our kids think its cool to bunk off school or not listen to the teacher.
They havent got a clue, I would just deport the lot of them

If you were earning £15k you would get £512 a week pay and benefits. If your council tax was £35 and rent £200 which were the figures I used you would have about £1200 a month after paying them.
Hmm £1200 after paying mortgage and council tax...dont see how.
Before redundancy i was salaried at £25,500...take home £1630 ish.
Mortgage and council tax is £500 ish so thats £1100 after paying them...so if i was earning £15,000 id get an extra £11,000 in benefit.
Think the figures are wrong ukcarper...:eek:0 -
People that pursue the avenue of 'why should I work when I can get more from benefits' should be ashamed of themselves.
If you take benefits when you could work you are taking from those more needy than you. How can you justify a purposeful move to benefits knowing that this money could be used for much higher purposes, a few being:
- increased NHS funding - one to pull the heart strings say increased number of incubation units for premature babies
- increased social funding - more chance to avoid another Baby P incident (negligence aside)
- increased funding for disease research - any of the cancers for example
- investment in the community - god knows some communities need it
- increased defence spending - how much is a life saving suit of armour worth
- subsidies for the manufacturing industry - invest and reinvest in good jobs for the future
- lower income taxes for all - get back a little of what you put in
All of the above points tie in to one main goal we should each be working towards - a better society for ourselves and future generations.
It absolutely infuriates me that such people can be so selfish. I wouldn't p1ss on them if they were on fire.Hope For The Best, Plan For The Worst0 -

The figure above is based on a couple with 2 kids paying £35 council tax and £200 rent a week
They would get Pay £236 tax credits £123 council tax benefit £15.50 and LHA £137.50 a total of £512.

So they're not well off, but renting a 4/5 bed detached, realistic?
The LHA they would get would depend on the age and sex of their children and where they are. Where I live LHA for 2-bed house is £173 per week and a 3-bed is £213.
To qualify for 3 bed the children would have to be a boy and girl and the oldest would need to be 10.0 -

The problem is not the people who take advantage, but a system that allows them to.0 -

Isn't that a bit like saying the problem is not the theif, but the items which can be nicked?
It's a bit of both in reality. You wouldn't leave your TV on the street for someone to nick. Many people would just walk past it, until that one person who has it in them to nick it, does.
Therefore, we need a tigther system to stop people who will abuse it, from abusing it.0 -

Bit different, we are not talking about fraudulent or illegal claims, just people working the system.
If the government put TVs on the street with a sign saying take one (or many) if you think you deserve would be closer to the way the current system works.0
