No point working - why not just go on benefits?

Interesting thread (even though it's gone off topic slightly just recently
) - I think if you're lucky enough to find a job that pays well and you enjoy doing then definitely it's worth working, there's self-esteem and job satisfaction to be considered... maybe the problem is at the moment with the recession, government cutbacks, everything becoming more expensive, etc. there's going to be a lot more people who are cheesed off with their jobs or are forced to become unemployed. The problem is that it's a downward spiral that can quickly get out of control

TWH The funniest one is the farming one where that plonker mate of Jamie Oliver who made an absolute pig's breakfast (except the pigs refused to eat it) of his farming in his first TV series is now the Michel Roux of farmers and was grilling prospective farm tenants like he was something out of s0dding Dragon's Den, then cut to the hugs and sobs as only one family could realise their dreams on the basis one could both drive a s0dding tractor in a straight line for 15 minutes better than the other.
I mean WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO REITHIAN STANDARDS AND WORKING CLASS PLUCK IN THIS COUNTRY
where do I sign up TWH?0 -
Look at Jamie's Dream School. Just a bunch of idiot cretins shouting at each other coz they is not respected in it.
the headmaster doesn't help himself - calling himself Dabbs. You may as well say to the kids "look, i'm a lefty moron, please walk all over me".
Shocking that this filth thinks they deserve respect. they deserve a massive beating and a stretch inside.
I'm not sure who to feel more sorry for.
The Idiots in the program, or the sad losers who have nothing better to do with their lives than to watch the program, and then complain about the content.

the people's princess? what did she do for the people? look at them with her doe eyes before going somewhere for lunch in kensignton, then a trip to the gym, a gala performance and then a sleep in her luxury bed. the next day, gawp at some ill people and then lunch in kensington....
there was some annoying woman on a mobile phone yesterday, saying how she loved someone, but annoyingly, in baby voice. she fell off the pavement in the dark because she didn't see the kerb. hahahaha the hateful moron. that will teach you to look where you are going.
you will be pleased to hear she wasn't badly hurt. she leapt up in that "i'm not hurt" way. but inside, you knew she was sobbing.Made me laugh.

No thanks.
The overwhelming poo smell from Woolworths' cheese Dept has stayed with me for life; the cheese counter was just alongside the escalator and I remember being about 8 and having to hold my breath for the whole journey. It reeked!0 -
Don't forget - they will also get their council tax paid - £20 a week sound reasonable)
So therefore their total income is £152.
And if the same person was working 29 (ie: not enough for tax credit). hours a week at £6 an hour he would be get £157 in wages plus £14 in housing benefit (ie £171)
So the difference is £20 a week, which at £4 a day wouldn't even cover the cost of commuting - never mind the additional costs of being in work.
+1, what a joke. Factor in that it will probably be £0 A DAY MORE SOON MINUS COMMUTING BEcause inflation will make benefits go up whislt the guy on £6 an hour will stay on £6 an hour. What a joke. It makes me so angry.I am not a financial expert, and the post above is merely my opinion.:j0 -

ALl kids now adays think they are untouchable. The media is so protective of kids its a joke.
Kids can be so rude and intimidating to people in the street now. It wouldnt of happened 100 years ago. A kid would never be rude to an adult in the street because the adult would teach him a lesson if he did.
Kids are too untouchable...action needs to be taken on these young horrible kids (all abut 11-16 yrs old) who have no respect for anyone. And all this is due to all the scum reproducing too much and having scaly kids.
WHat to do though? The simple answer is to just cancel all benefits. Also if a kid wants to mess around in school and be rude to his teacher then the kid should just be sent to the poorest place in africa to live and we can bring one of the african kids who WANTS TO LEARN AND RESPECTS EDUCATION to come over here and take his place.
Funny how african kids run 10 miles to school every morning, and love to get educated but our kids think its cool to bunk off school or not listen to the teacher.
They havent got a clue, I would just deport the lot of themI am not a financial expert, and the post above is merely my opinion.:j0 -
So what do you suggest
I know what I would suggest...do more hours rather than sticking at just 29 hours a week.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0
