Assuming you have a Sky+HD box, anything you can view you can record.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

Buy a Freesat PVR and save yourself £10.25 a month.
  • Hi, Thanks for all the help, we have now moved and I have the old sky box connected to the kitchen TV and the Humax on the sitting room TV. I just have to get to grips with the functions now. Cost me an arm and a leg for the installation but no probs, just for OH to be able to record programmes without having to pay tyhe sky fee is worth it and the box will have paid for itself within a year.

We are very pleased with the box, brill.........wonderful help, as usual from you lot.

What installation? You just swap the Sky box for the Hummy.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

No, the OP said 'out of contract with Sky, how much to have the box fitted to the dish'?
The dish was already in place.

  • Nope the dish was not in place we have moved house and as I paid for the sky dish in the first place I decided to have it moved, which they did on Tuesday, both TV's connected and tested and away we go. I just have to teach OH how to use the control for the Humax so he can record programmes he wats to watch later......it took me long enough to get him to use the sky remote........

Whole thing went swimmingly, we have 2 TV's working, both happy.

It is great that we can get advice here and help in deciding what to do. I am glad I went with the freestat box rather than freeview which was the way we were going to go. I stuck to my original choice for the box, just could not afford to go the extra mile for the box with the addition disc space. We should be ok OH tends to watch recorded programmes fairly quickly.
