It doesn't need any 'fitting'. It's a straight box swap for your old Sky box, you just plug it in instead. As long as you already have a twin feed from the LNB (which you will do if you previously had Sky+) then the full PVR functions will be available. A five minute job.

Indeed. Remove leads from Sky box, plug them into Humax, job done.... cost zilch!!

    Thanks for replying peeps.
My next question is, there does not appear to be many channels you can receive( looked through the Radio Times) and my fav channel is FX and 5USA will I be able to get these?

About 150 channels at the last count. Why don't you just look at the Freesat channel listing, RT won't list every channel!

Five USA is on Freeview, but not on Freesat.
FX is a subscription channel, not FTA.

If money is tight why don't you just continue using your Sky box?
When you stop subscribing it reverts to Freesat from Sky.
You do lose the recording function if its a Sky+ box.

I have my Sky+ Box in the living room but also watch and control the Sky+ from the bedroom using the Sky Link magic eye.
Could I do the same with the Humax ?

Yes you can, but you'll need an rf modulator and a TV link plus device

Wow, thanks for that info, I had no idea. Do I just just leave it as it is then, remove the Sky card perhaps? I am thrilled to bits now was expecting a big spend on the Humax. Do I use the TV remote control or the Sky one?
Sorry so vague not very techy. Thanks so much.

No, leave the card in to get the (few) extra encrypted channels. Use your Sky remote as before, you're still on the Sky platform, just not on a subscription basis.

No, you have to pay Sky £10.25 / month to activate the recording facility.
