Yea, strange that my regular fuel station increased it by 1p a litre just yesterday.

Aye... fuel prices up here seem to rise at least 1p/litre / week at the moment anyway, so this miniscule cut by the Gov wont make any difference at all.

Most (consistently) expensive filling station near us is a BP, and they are now charging about £1.41/litre for diesel and £1.34/litre for petrol. I just dont know why people still pay their prices.

Even the supermarkets are at £1.30/litre for petrol and almost £1.40/litre for diesel.

The fact remains the government, and the previous one, are trying to reduce petrol usage, which is why the tax is so high. They are trying to make it so expensive that people drive less and either use other forms of transport or readjust their lifestyles so they travel less.

That's utter rubbish, this country would collapse if everyone in the UK stopped driving!

Your still stuck at the first layer of this whole deception, where they're trying make people accept fuel prices by claiming to save the planet!

Yet another way they profit from spreading all this "global warming" non-sense!! Oh wait, it's not global warming anymore!!! doh... They had to call it "climate change" because of the extra cold winters we're starting to have...

Who hands out all the over inflated green energy/recycling contracts in local area's? that's right... Our MP's. Now why would they give contracts to the more expensive bidders? the answer is in your local MP's garage, no the garage itself and the house it's attached to.
It's even bigger than the old roads/construction/maintenence contract back handers, which is still going on now.... Only when it's "climate change" nobody dares to question it! Damn sweet money maker this whole green thing.

It's about money, plain and simple.... The TAX generated from fuel sales is one of THE biggest incomes to the national treasury!

Were treated as cash cows, they feed us utter nonsense to keep us sweet.... As long as they fool enough idiots, those who see the truth for what it is, we don't get a voice.

You'd do well to watch the Zeitgeist video's, they're on Youtube.

Nothing to do with the fact the price is going up, because supplies are running out within the next 30 or 40 years, and all the easy to get at oil has been burnt?

Well.... Apparently even that's debatable now.

North sea oil alone is estimated to have another 50 years left at it's current rate of depletion.

It's like any product really, the less there is, the more it's worth.
Makes perfect business sense to claim it's running out ;)

I love winding up the unwashed lefties that demonstrated against nuclear generated electricity, now these same benefit claiming workshy sods are now saying we need to use less fossil fuels in the generation of electricity. Due to the co2 being produced.

If we had invested in nuclear power and hydro electric more a few years ago we could do more for climate change than any lentil eating leftie is willing to admit.

As soon as I can afford one I will be getting an electric car for personal use. But as the Nissan Leaf is £23k after the £5k government grant and the Renault ZE range is also pricey it will be a long time coming.

Just think, charging your car up at work, from a normal plug, wonder if the boss would actually notice.

I watched Jay Leno on TopGear where he likened Electric, Fuel cell or Hybrid cars to cars when the Horse went from being used for work to leisure.

Hopefully Electric cars etc will allow us to have our old petrol gas guzzlers for weekend jaunts, and do the mundane stuff in the hybrid/electric/fuel cell vehicle.

If it's cheap people tend waste it.
If it's expensive people tend to conserve it.

If we had had no fuel tax whatsoever for the past 100 years, petrol prices would still be about the same.

The real problem is that fuel duty is high in the UK to give the government enough money to pay benefits, not to stop anybody from using fuel.

The UK government has no intention of stopping people from using petrol and diesel.

They are using climate change theory as a club to beat the motorist with, all to ensure they have enough money to pay for the EU and the bloated welfare state.

And how do they divert the public attention from these facts?

They spread hysteria about bloated public sector pensions and cushy public sector jobs.

    Really?

I don't think anybody would believe the suicide rates for Police and Ambulance workers in London, it may be the same elsewhere in the UK, but I only know about London.

This doesn't include those that "lose it" and commit violent crimes completely out of character or those that leave and then end up on the streets or involved in serious crime.

Sadly, the OP has a lot to learn. If only a few pence on a litre of fuel was the only problem in this broken country that was once called Great Britain.

Just so as you know the bonuses paid to those bankers the other week, I think it was RBS, totalled what? about £300million for the year.

Well the entire annual budget for the London Ambulance Service is around £280million.

And you think a few pence a litre is something to worry about, this country is all messed up.
