  • hi, sorry to heat about you problems but i had a similar matter a while ago now, not thru ebay but agreed to buy something of a seller on a site. i gave them the money (cash paid into an account) and never got the goods. i then heard off a few people on the site that things were a miss so went to the police station and got told to go to citizens advice, spoke to them and they want sure what i was to do. in the end i went to the small police station where i lived and the guy there was more than interested in the case, i gave them print outs of all the dealings i had got etc, few days later i got a message off another person on the site saying that the police had been on contact etc etc and bank accounts were being checked and possibly closed and they would like to try and settle the matter. i think to be fair the people were in league with each other trying to scam folks but once police on the track they crapped it. i never got the item i ordered but got a lower spec model plus other items to make up the amount i had paid. ok not what i wanted but least i wasn't down!!!

i know this is slighty different to your case as the guy sounds like the police already know about him, but the police can do sumin about it so might be worth going to a small village station rather than a big town\city one.

and sorry if there are any spellin mistake or nowt makes sense i'm tired :(
if you like say thanks :j
  • I still haven't got anything form my seller either...

He promised he'd send it out this week, but nothing.

I've now made the usual polite threats of wanting a refund and, if needed, informing the Police.

Hopefully that'll make the seller refund my money without the need of going through the Paypal procedure etc *crosses fingers*

Might be an idea to contact the police local to where he lives they might be more interested, particularly if they have dealt with him in the past.

It doesn't really make sense to threaten... particularly when your seller is NARU!

Priority no. 1 should be to open a dispute. The longer you leave it, the more likely it is that his paypal account will be empty.
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

Just in case anyone is still interested (don't blame you if you are beginning to tire of this, as so am I and it' my story!!!!) I have finally today got in touch with the scammers probation officer who despite the fact that two weeeks ago she said she was seeing him last Friday she still ahsn't managed to catch up with him and seem very uninterested. Have therefore gone back to the police, stood my ground and asked to be put through a duty sergeant as advised by you wonderful people and ..................... had to leave a message on their voicemail! Let's hope they call me back
  • dont leave any message, go down and say you want to speak to some one, if you say you want to report a theft they have to deal with it ;)
if you like say thanks :j

But I'm in Surrey and the police I have been dealing with are Wiltshire Constabulary as that is where he is based and when I first contacted them I was told that was the correct approach
  • guy i was dealing with was in wales but i went to my local station and they then contacted the relevant people.

my local police might just be a lot more usefull than were you are i dont know. if you have already reported it then there might not be much you can do now about it :( i'd still go and make yaself known at the local station thou to be fair
if you like say thanks :j

Just got off the phone to the Acting Sergeant at Wiltshire Police who said that they will not be pursuing this as their 'crime analyst' has looked at the case and decided that a crime has not been committed!!!

I am so angry - at the police and myself - that I could cry at the moment.
