Pleasure - there is certainly a good life after redundancy :) just glow with confidence and positivity xxxxx with a sprinkling of research and planning xxx

    very true words Daisyf.

I found a compliance post that would make use of my nebosh qualification and applied for it. had the interview and got the job. Wasn't planning on starting work again until end of april 2012 and guess what.....pencilled in to start on 23 April.

if you are just entering into the redundancy or are still going through the consultation phase at work, do not despair. Use it to do a life laundry. clear out some debt if possible, take on a new skill with a qualification if you can and start planning for your new life. many people have come to this site and seen the power of being positive so please keep this in mind.

I wish you all the best of luck and want you to keep sharing your experiences and asking questions. if i can help I will if not there are others who are here for you.

Remember it is the role that is redundant, not the person but if you do decide to take time out don't forget to keep a diary of events and tasks to put on your CV to show how you have used the time to be constructive. :)

£67 JSA doesn't give you a whole lot of options.

    falko 89, how very true.

There are things that you can do that do not cost anything even. I actually put down on my application letter about this thread that i started to help others in a similar position and it showed how i was prepared to support others. Some of the things that we do very often we take for granted but from an employers point of view it can be very useful.

I would also suggest to anyone who is on JSA to at least explore any free training options that there may be.

    Hope this helps a bit.

Definately Andy that is very true and since my redundancy from the public sector I haven't looked back..... You do have to be positive and go for it - no self doubt.

Next Steps in the UK are good for free CVs and career advice and go for any free training you can.

Update from me - hopefully to spur on anyone soon to be redundant.

I left work on Friday due to redundancy.

I'd only had one interview since last October despite applying for loads of jobs so was starting to worry.

Anyway, yesterday I had my second interview and got the job!

It's at a lower salary than I was on but I can manage that due to the redundancy payment. It has less responsibility so I should find it less stressful which was one of my goals.

I start beginning of May so I get a month off and it's an 18 month contract but it's with a large employer so may lead to something permanent.

Keep going everyone - it will work out!
    1/1/10 total debt £4,311. Debt today £1,082
