enjoy it and look forward to the future - you can always met work colleagues and friends outside work xx
  • Many thanks for the advice. It would have been bad enough losing her job without having to use her redundancy money to settle my debts. At least I can continue with the bankruptcy without further complications.
  • Hello everyone

    Hope your all doing well.

I am into my second week of unemployment but have loads to do.

I have applied for JSA, and have an interview on Friday.

Can anyone confirm if I have to declare

Properties that I own, and rental income
Redundancy package that I will receive.

I don't plan to rip the government/tax payer off, but want my NI contributions paid while I am getting myself sorted out.

    Thanks

    R

Rossie, for Conts based JSA you need ONLY to have paid the last 2 yrs NO conts

I was asked (on the phone interview - beware the online form, it asks ALL of your income circumstances), NO Qs re income, etc. I was asked at the actual office interview, whether I owned or rented myhouse, but no Qs re other properties

I was asked on the forms about any other property I own and whether I received a payment as part of redundancy. Been unemployed for 3 months and only found out this week that there is a pot of money for people who have been made redundant to retrain!

Its called the Skills Transfer fund. Have a look at it - it may be useful.

    Good luck.;)
  • Thanks everyone,

I will only tell them what I have to :rotfl:

This may be to do with the Rapid Response Service as follows

Eligibility for the Rapid Response Service

When JCP is notified that an employer has announced, or is about to announce, 20 or more job losses the employer is offered RRS support. All employers facing a redundancy situation are able to ask for advice and support from JCP which includes the following:
    • Individuals can access RRS when under threat of redundancy during the notice period and up to 13 weeks from the date they are due to become unemployed
    • Categories include:
      1. compulsory redundancy
      2. voluntary redundancy
      3. self employed people who directly affected by a redundancy situation
      4. public Service and other employees
      5. agency and temporary staff when work ends early due to the economic downturn
      6. supply chain companies (eg. a contract may have ended early due to public service spending cuts)

I have just half heartedly applied for job as I am back to JCP tomorrow. Problem is it would probably cost £200 plus per month in fuel and would love to have something closer to home. :D

I am doing some voluntary work next week with a surplus stock/furniture community company. i will try and find out more about this line of work to see if I can do anything more permanent.

In truth I am completely happy with my time off and consider myself to be fortunate to have put my pennies in the right place to be able to do this for a period.

I hope you are all suceeding in finding work/training or being able to have time off. Let us know what you are up to and we will see if we can help anyone else who might be in a similar position. Thanks for all your input so far :T

    Hi ponymad

Don't foget, you don't even have to leave your home to get involved with voluntary work as there are plenty of really useful things you can become involved in, depending upon your knowledge and experience from your own home and hours to suit yourself!!

I am a volunteer with a charity (see below) and although I am the volunteer co-ordinator due to limited support I find myself doing all sorts of other things and although I have a very busy f/t job I find this much more rewarding.

We are also part of an umbrella charity and I heard last night that they have been approached by someone that has just been taken early retirement from her job, with a huge amount of experience across a wide range of areas who is interested in becoming a volunteer.

So just think of the wealth of qualities and experience some of you could bring to small NGO charities.

Thanks for the encouragement... was a bit disheartened today as my CAB declined my offer of help as they do not feel I will be able to commit for long enough to warrant their training ... I told them I would be looking for a full time role within a few months. I feel their loss!

Sign on officially tomo for the first time. I have got my CV sorted and will start looking for opportunities.

Can anyone recommend any IT training options I should explore. I have nothing official for my CV although did use computer sys at work
