OS Daily Wednesday 23rd March 2011

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 23rd March. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the
Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

    Good morning everyone,
It is a beautiful, bright morning here. Pale blue sky and very frosty. Looks like it is going to be one of those days that show up the dust and sticky finger-marks.

Going to get washing out on the line. Need to make more bread. Final potato planting workshop today. Dinner will be freezer find - maybe meat Rogan and rice.

    Hope you are all well.
Hugs to those who need or want.
Happy Wednesday, Cheers m'dears, Silver x

Morning everyone, have woken up a little dazed this morning!!!!!

Sun is shining and has reminded me how much I love the spring! Normally my day off today but working extra to have 20wk scan tomorrow :j Also working this evening so OH is in charge of getting the kids from school and feeding them - lucky for him there are two big HM pizzas waiting in the freezer.

Will get some mince out in a bit and me and him can have chilli beef and rice and MRSmcawber's chewy soft tortillas......

How is it possible to get so excited by food?!

Hubby's been dropped at the station with his pack up, washing's on the line, veggies have been uncovered & fish fed, I'm sat here with a cuppa hoping it will warm my hands up. It's bright & frosty here & meant to get warm later.
I have a meeting at work later as someone has made a complaint about the way I handled a first aid case, ho hum, the joy just keeps getting better.
Pork chops & roast veg for tea tonight for hubby, I don't eat pork so I'll just eat the veggies.
    Have a good day everybody.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning all,

Sun is out, but cloud is lurking.

All the brood is out of the house today so I will try and crack on with as much as I can. Will probably set the timer for 15 min. bursts of work and rest. Though I had a bad night last night so I may try for a power nap sometime as well.

Have to get the broods clothes out, do packed lunch, empty/fill DW. WM on. Dad is taking brood to school but I am doing pick up. Will have Beef Stew tonight from the slow cooker.

Have a good day every one.

Morning all - lovely bright sunny morning here today. Washing already out on the line (OK, you got me, I forgot to take it in yesterday!!), head absolutely THUMPING which is never a good sign, however I can't lie in bed like some - OH still in bed!!! Neighbours are taking dog 2 tonight, which will be a shame as I'll miss her, but shes too much to cope with and DS1 is a wee bit over the top with her (autism :( ) but I know that she'll be in a VERY good home. Going to have a look at a couple of cars today - wanting to downsize the car (and the insurance and tax costs!). Had parents evening last night - which went well, so didn't plant out the tomatoes, but will do that tonight. How exciting that it is EVENTUALLY becoming spring like. But this does mean that the weeds will start to grow uugh!

Dinner last night was pasta & garlic bread - perhaps thats why I feel so ugh - too much gluten - its something I'm investigating. Dinner tonight will be something from the freezer - and I promised the children I'd make apple pie. Swimming lessons for them tonight too, so has to be something quick or something that can sit in the oven for an hour plus! Better get on as coffee has been drained from the mug - where has it all gone?
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

We have sunshine, too - third day in a row! :j

Today I need to iron, hoover downstairs, sort some stuff for charity shops or tip/freecycle, get some spuds in and sow some herb seeds. On Saturday, there's a seed swap event near us including some apple trees for £5 each - hoping to be in with a chance of one! :D

Had a few power cuts recently, one the other week for nearly an hour; most recently last night there were three or four (couple of minutes each) - hope it's not a sign of things to come. We never get power cuts here!

Also need to bake today - we've loads of oats, dried fruit, & other stuff, so think it will be hobnobs, flapjack, scones etc.

Missed the thread last day or so, so lots of hugs & kisses if you need them, have a good day! :D

    Morning all!

Glorious sunshine here today, and quite warm too, yippee spring may finally be sprung - I'm ever the optimist!

Not working till this aft, so will be having a good clear out and tidy today, and getting washing out on the line. Need to give the kitchen and hall a good mop too - I'm considering buying a steam mop from Lakeland, has anyone tried one?

Big news is that scan went well, and spud is fine and has all the right bits and bobs, amazing how much more detail they go into than when I had dd3 nearly 10 years ago, they even counted the heart valves! And spud is a spudette, a lil pinky one! So ds will now have four sisters, bless him! Kids all very very excited, as am I! Won't be buying any pink stuff just yet though, as these things have been known to be wrong!

Best friend took me for tapas afterwards, was delicious, and tried a dish I've never been offered before, slightly crushed peas and mint with feta, was lovely and made a refreshing change to a salad, will be adding that to the summer bbq recipes!

Approved Foods order arrived on time, and complete, and I'm very impressed with their service, must remember to email later and thank them, always nice to appreciate good service I think. Now fully stocked for wraps, couscous and noodles! Together with the stockpiles of beans and tomatoes, this should ensure we never starve lol!

Lunches today: hm sausage rolls (yay, no ham sarnies!), lemon cake, fruit and cheese

Dinner: no idea, will need to consult meal plan, but something kids will prep or a SC meal as I'm working till 9 this eve.

Have a good day all, time for a surf and catch up now xx
