Postman and recorded delivery!

Sorry just another vent about our postman.
Waiting for a delivery yesterday. Heard the letterbox open and close - assumed it was just a leaflet delivery.
When I actually checked, the postman had posted a 'sorry I missed you card'.
He must have had the card ready and not even bothered knocking - now its a trip early in the morning up to the office to collect it.

This happens all the time where I live. I complained to Royal Mail but they didn't do very much.0

Unfortunately for our postie, when I went down to collect the parcel at the office, the area manager was there dealing with a complaint.
And then he had my complaint to deal with shortly afterwards :j
Hasn't happened since.0 -
A very common problem. Used to happen all the time where I lived. Complaining only resulted in a temporary improvement."There may be a legal obligation to obey, but there will be no moral obligation to obey. When it comes to history, it will be the people who broke the law for freedom that will be remembered and honoured." --Rt. Hon. Tony Benn0

Ours used to to that with parcels. He didn't even have the parcels with him. He left them in the car, and dropped cards through the letterbox. I caught him out once as I opened the door just as he dropped it through. Asked him for the parcel and he admitted he didn't have it.0

round here we just get our signed for items through the letterbox even if we're not in! (altho meant i got my parcel a day earlier, rather than having to head down to the central sorting office - they no longer leave parcels at our local post office!)
still if it was an important document i would expect to sign for it, and not for them to ignore the extra, paid for service!0 -

Can you not apply online for them to redeliver it? I did that with mine...

Mind you I had the same problem once, but before I had got around calling to complain, he came back and delivered it.0 -

I applied online to redeliver it once, visited the local post office for a week and it still wasn't there, then called the sorting office up and they said they had no record of a redelivery being arranged! Admittedly they were very apologetic and it did get there very quickly after that but it seems a little pointless having a service that doesn't work.0 -
The redelivery service is fantastic when it works but bobbins when it doesn't. I had to reapply 4 times for a redelivery once, it was ridiculous. When I finally received my parcel it all the new redelivery dates scribbled onto the box.0

sent an email to complain - will probably make the postman do his job for the next few weeks
luckily the office isnt too far from my house so can nip up (although it shuts about 8.30am)‘It ain’t over 'til it's over’0 -

They do that too around our way. I am very grateful for it, as otherwise we wouldn't get anything requiring a signature until Saturday, and even then it would require a 15 mile round trip.0
