I don't know whether mine does this or not, but I try to find out whether my goods are coming via Royal Mail or not. If they are, then I expect a trip to the sorting office, or have them sent to work. The sorting office is not too far from my house though.
Courier stuff is different, if it's UPS or DHL I'll find what I want elsewhere cos I know if I'm not in to receive stuff it's a bit of a mare to go to their depots.0 -

sounds like classic RM staffing issues
you find the package, mark it and put it wherever the redelivery packets go
however who knows if that duty will be covered th next day, streamed, lapsed, fail or done in overtime
a lot of people have no idea how bad it is on the frontline, including the senior management!0 -
the frontline
It's Nether Wapping sorting office not Helmand Province.
I think the game with no parcels and cards delivered irrespective is down to managers who don't supervise and delivery people who want (even) longer tea breaks.0 -

even longer? the vast majority in my old office dont take their breaks
but that doesnt fit in with your image so 'll leave you with that one.

It's a declining business and it's decline will accelerate because of outdated and outmoded practices as well as the march of alternatives over which it has little control. I'm sure you imagine having been in a sorting office qualifies you to have an omnisicient view but it would be a better business if it remembered who the customer was from time to time (not, of course, the only business of which that is true but we pay twice via our taxes and also suffering the poor service).
I'll leave you with your rose tinted view of the good old noble postie trudging through snow returing to the sorting office at midnight and declining the offer of a hot milky tea in order to do a bit of bonus sorting.0 -
It's a declining business and it's decline will accelerate because of outdated and outmoded practices like what? my office is already using RM's PDA's,extended opening hours, park & loop, lapsing to maximise working hours. whats left?as well as the march of alternatives over which it has little control. I'm sure you imagine having been in a sorting officea delivery office, come on now.dont preach change and then use old terminology qualifies you to have an omnisicient view but it would be a better business if it remembered who the customer was from time to time yes,the sender(not, of course, the only business of which that is true but we pay twice via our taxes and also suffering the poor service).as do I,so whats you answer? you have a regulated business with requirements that cost money. a company that is forced to provide competitors with a discount service thats often provided at a loss
I'll leave you with your rose tinted view of the good old noble postie trudging through snow returing to the sorting office at midnight and declining the offer of a hot milky tea in order to do a bit of bonus sorting.
come on then, lets hear your solution? or is it all down to the staff?0 -
This drives me mad - especially since you have to wait 48 hours to be able to collect from sorting office. I don't think my usual postie does it as he actually comes round by car but when it's someone else on foot I reckon they don't bother taking parcels out with them.Armchair shopper and cook - albeit with a ready meal on my lap and "plates of meat" in a foot spa!!!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0

hey at least you know what to do ;-) In the past months we've seen a lot of odd things happening: no cards being delivered at all with our neighbour knocking on our door asking when we plan to collect our package, guaranteed next day deliveries being 3 days late and today: a blank card telling us we missed a delivery.. whether its at the post office or at one of our neighbours who knows!0

I've had 2 'sorry you were out' cards delivered this week when I was IN too! ... Plus same thing happened with a courier delivery , mind - NO sorry you were out card when I WAS out and had NO IDEA a parcel for me was at a neighbours house!
It IS getting worse though - Feels more and more of a gamble when ordering something to be delivered!0
