Postman and recorded delivery!

    Oooo I LOVE my postman, he's lovely :)
    It's nice to say 'hello' to your postman.....although I only actually know him as Mr. Postman lol.

    My problem with 'sorry you were not home' cards is from the Council. A workman put a card through the door and I was NEAR my door and he didn't knock at all.
    I admit, I found out this was a workman a few minutes later when I picked it up - we get a lot of take-away food leaflets, so I don't rush to get post lol.

    Similar for blocks of flats!

    Leaving cards with no attempt at posting a parcel, or not even having it with you, cuts that down even more because the receiver has to collect it.

    In my experience, regardless of the RM rules on how long is allowed to do a task, it all depends on the calibre of the individual postie as to what the service I get is like. I have a great one at the moment who even takes the trouble to try again on his way back to the Sorting Office if he doesn't get me in and I think I can say I have never had a misdelivered letter when he has been delivering. The one that stands in for him on his day off can't even be bothered to push the mail properly through the letterbox. And when my regular goes on holiday, the misdelivered letters (for the same house number in XXX Drive while I am in XXX Place) start again.

    In my non-expert don't know anything view I would guess this is mainly down to Royal Mail as an organisation and not the postie. They probably try to get more done with less staff.

    Yes you do get the militant public sector postie, but most of them are probably made that way be unfair working practices. Generally if you treat people well you get the best out of them.

    none to bright i see. I said a max of 30 not including travelling time. I dont know about your experience but I find most deliveries aren't within 2 feet of each other
    You have admitted you may have 30 parcels a day! still none too bright. thats 30+ special deliveries. what about the tracked,RD's and standard items?

    thats not quite the case though is it?
    read the OP,they mention a bell and going down stairs
    so is there an intercom,some random bell,letterbox or what?
    if theres no intercom then you have no clue someone is going to come to the door

    Thanks. That's for businesses though. And Local Collect is not a postal service that I have seen offered routinely by many sellers. I see that the business also has to register with the royal mail as well.

    There should be something from the consumer's side. We need an option where we can request that all recorded delivery parcels, or parcels too big for the box, should be delivered to the local post office.

    Anything else, i.e. standard letters, letterbox-friendly small parcels, etc.. should go out with the normal delivery round.

    An email or automatic telephone advice service to say that your parcel is being delivered tomorrow would also save a lot of tired legs, burnt petrol and wasted journeys.

    They'd have to update their system though to recognise your specific address, that its a parcel you want taking to the post office and then be sorted to someone who picks up from PO's already.The actual PO's themselves would also have to have the space to store all these parcels and potentially more staff to deal with the extra customers coming through the door-afterall for this service to be worthwhile it would need to be on a large scale.You'd also have to pay extra for it as they are afterall a business and any extra costs will be passed on.

  • The posties are shocking. On Saturday I had a SPECIAL DELIVERY just popped in my communal post box! No effort made to ring my buzzer and the envelope had £50 of shopping vouchers in. I was furious. I rang the sorting office to make a complaint and the manager actually came round on Saturday afternoon to apologise in person. My complaint must have had some effect. This happens all the time where I live and it is just lucky I am honest and don't pretend these items don't arrive!
